We love this epic Buḻwutjal linocut by Muluymuluy Wirrpanda!

“Buḻwutja is a water yam that grows in the billabong. My sister Mulkuṉ taught me how to paint this. Bulwutja has a songline which is sung by my clan, Dhudi-Djapu. This is a Dhuwa plant. The old people would go and collect Buḻwutja in the wet season.”

Gapu XII, the latest collagraph series from Djilpin Arts are available at Dog Eared Darwin!

These collographs were developed by 15 artists over a week in April 2025 at Djilpin Arts Centre in Wugularr (Beswick), with printmaker Antonia Aitken from Basil Hall Editions. Artists have depicted traditional string and dilly bags, bathi + exploring the place of these artefacts in culture, ceremony and mythology.
