It is with much sadness that we learnt of the passing of museum member John White. Garry Johnson used to bring John along to his Wednesday duty at the museum, where he immersed himself in Nambucca history, a story he knew so well. Garry described John as follows:
"John was like most of Nambucca Heads sportsmen. He played Rugby League for Nambucca Roosters in the winter months, playing front row & scored the first try when we won the Group 2 Grand Final against Coffs Harbour. In the summer months it was Surf Club. John was a strong swimmer who won many events & was Boat Sweep for our junior & senior crews when we won the state titles at Coffs Harbour. That took us to Bondi for the Australian Titles where we made the finals! John was a big tough man, yet he played the piano beautifully & was still playing until the time he passed. He had a lovely wife in Betty, who passed several years ago & has a lovely family. Melissa & family have l looked after John since Betty Passed. RIP John."
Our condolences to John's family and friends. A life well lived.
