Thanks to the Nambucca River View Club for inviting museum Research Officer Rachel Burns to address their lively monthly meeting at Nambucca RSL. Rachel talked about the birth of Nambucca Stories from radio and print media to a published book and was especially happy to sell copies and promote the Headland Museum.
"Some of the ladies knew of the families in the book and all appreciated learning about the historical background of the Valley", said Rachel.

It is with great excitement we announce the completion of two new (interpretive) panels in the museum. The first is Stuart Island and the Aboriginal School and the second is all about the early Red Cedar industry. The Stuart Island panel is particularly timely when the Nambucca Island Golf Club is celebrating their centenary, as it details the earlier original occupants of the island. These panels were devised by museum volunteer Rachel Burns and designed and printed by John Elliott of Prickle Patch Signs, right here in Valla. (John's phone number is 0429329360) Thank you John, your work is much appreciated.
The panels and other recent museum exhibits will be the subject of an open day in the not too distant future where our indigenous, red cedar and shipping history can all be celebrated together.
The museum is open Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. at 50 Liston Street Nambucca Heads, right on the headland.

A special visitor at the museum today was Simon Carroll from the Kyogle Museum, who are planning a centenary in 2030 for the opening of the Kyogle to Brisbane railway line. Simon was happy to get a few tips from our own experience and took away a copy of our Nambucca Heads Railway Centenary book. Good luck Kyogle with this important event.

The museum is proud to announce the birth of twins Poppie and Zephyr Ferguson. The babies are the grandchildren of longtime museum volunteer, ex-president and local history expert David Day. They were born on June 7th, the birthday of their grandmother, David's late wife Kayleen. They have impeccable Nambucca ancestry with McKay on one side and Fergusons of Nambucca Railway Station on the other.
Congratulations to parents Peta and Blake.

The Dorrigo Museum members made the Nambucca their own yesterday with visits to all our museums at Bowraville, Macksville and our own Headland Museum. The plucky travellers gave us a copy of The Dorrigo Soldier, His Story and we gave them a copy of our Nambucca Stories. The visitors enjoyed viewing our new exhibits including the Whaites Teaset, the Blackthorn Cane and our Edgar ship portraits. Museum volunteers, Garry Johnson and Paul and Rachel Burns made them feel at home. Thanks to Trevor Lynch for organising the visit. Come back soon Dorrigo!

It is always exciting to have the descendants of Nambucca pioneers at the museum. Today we welcomed the family of Jabez and Mary Ann Buckman, who had the first sawmill in Nambucca Heads in the 1870s. The family were able to inspect our files and donated several important photographs for our collection. They also took away two copies of our Nambucca Stories in which the Buckmans are story number one. Thanks for visiting and making our day so memorable. The photo shows the visitors with Mary Ann Buckman on the wall behind them.
