Then and now…….
Reid & Fotheringham Store in the 1920’s
And current day as Nambucca River Department Store.
The verandah post still remains and also the residence above.
Portions of this store was moved to the new location at corner of River & Princess Street prior to 1929 when the lease expired on the above store.
Mr Harold Fotheringham went into partnership with his brother in law Mr Hugh Reid and that is how the Reid & Fotheringham legacy began around 1912.
Mr Fotheringham served in WWI and returned to Macksville in 1923 to resume his active role in the business.
Reid & Fotheringham m’s General Store was such a significant landmark in Macksville.
