EXHIBITION OPENING!

8 emerging and early-career artists you definitely need to know about 👀

The Path Work in Progress Exhibition brings together experiments, works in progress and new ideas developed through The Path creative development program.

Spanning painting, photography, installation, animation and sound, come see what these artists have been working on while it’s still taking shape, then stick around for a drink and a live ambient set by .

Using her wheelchair as an extension of her body, Roisin Clark explores movement as a way of making marks across the ground.

“After becoming paraplegic, how has my relationship with the ground changed, and how can I explore that relationship through painting?”

Grounded investigates how painting as performance, and the marks left behind, can reveal the constant negotiation of living with disability.

Developed during The Path creative development program, this experiment forms part of Ro’s new large-scale work spanning painting, film, performance and installation.

Applications are now open for the LANTANA Space Residency Program 26/27!

A studio-based residency that supports artists to develop their practice through experimentation, inquiry and sustained making.

Rather than prioritising finished outcomes, the residency encourages artists to explore new ideas, challenge existing ways of working and take creative risks.

Open to artists at all career stages and working across all mediums, located anywhere in Australia!

Each residency includes:

• $4,000 artist stipend
• 8 weeks of dedicated studio space
• Professional photographic documentation
• A public engagement opportunity tailored to your practice

Applications close 11:59 pm AEST, 27 August 2026.

There was something quietly hypnotic and slightly chaotic about watching Megan work.

Over eight weeks at LANTANA, reclaimed copper wire was twisted, twirled and woven into her signature delicate sculptural forms as conversations drifted between unseen labour, women’s work, and occasionally losing your s**t when grant deadlines collide with mental health, school holidays and the general rhythm of life.

During this time, Megan was having a play with textiles, experimenting with how fabric, light and shadow could exist in conversation, allowing the sculptures to extend beyond their physical edges….

🎨 Some of the most meaningful moments happen when we slow down enough to create something with our hands - not for a result, not to be “good” at it, just to feel present.

Hi, I’m Petra 🌿 - a Czech-born artist who’s been painting in one form or another for as long as I can remember. Art has always been the place I feel most like myself, and the real magic isn’t the finished painting - it’s the slowing down, the colour, and the connection that happens when people create side by side.

So I’m starting a little ritual for that: Paint with Petra.

No experience, no pressure, no need to call yourself “an artist” - just you, a brush, and a couple of relaxed hours to switch off and create.

Horizon Festival proudly presents a vibrant celebration of Indigenous creativity with BLAK OUT – a dynamic showcase of storytelling, culture, and resistance through art at LANTANTA Space in Moffat Beach.

For ten days, the studio transforms into a living canvas of First Nations expression, featuring bold visual installations, immersive performances, and community-led workshops.

From ancient traditions to contemporary voices, this takeover honours the depth and diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artistry.

Come witness the spirit, strength, and power of First Nations creatives as they reclaim place, spark dialogue, and inspire change.

Meet the Artist | Mira Chorik

Theatre-maker, musician and community arts facilitator Mira Chorik creates work that explores loss, meaning-making and connection through music, performance and collaboration.

Her practice blends storytelling and sound to craft intimate live spaces where art becomes a form of healing, reflection and belonging.

With a background in Chinese medicine, facilitation and meditation teaching, Mira brings empathy and depth to her creative process, seeing art and music as sacred spaces for shared experience.

An award-winning solo performance blending live music, painting and storytelling, where songs written in response to iconic artworks invite audiences to see and hear art anew.

APPLY NOW - MadeSC Residencies

MadeSC Residencies are a series of bespoke creative residencies taking place across three unique Sunshine Coast locations in 2026.

Presented by the Sunshine Coast Council in partnership with LANTANA Space, The Falls Farm, and LJ Projects.

Each residency includes:

- Up to $5,000 artist stipend
- Dedicated studio or residency space
- Access to industry peers for mentoring or producer support.
- Ongoing producer support throughout the residency.
- Facilitated work-in-progress showing to share your work.

The venues:

🎨 LANTANA Space, Moffat Beach: 2 to 29 March
A month-long studio residency embedded within a regional artist-run initiative. Suitable for artists of any discipline seeking dialogue, experimentation and risk-taking in their practice.

🌿 Falls Farm, Mapleton: 2 to 26 March
Three-week residential residency set within a working permaculture farm. Suitable for artists with an interest in regenerative practices, environment and science

🎭 LJ Projects, Nambour: 3 weeks in March
A dedicated month-long residency in a purpose-built dance studio. Suitable for dance, theatre and interdisciplinary performance artists.
