How did Heather Smith’s love affair with Greece begin?

It all started with a Greek neighbour who introduced Heather to the beauty of Greek culture, food and way of life. Inspired by everything she discovered, Heather eventually decided, “I’m going to Greece.”

And that journey became the beginning of a lifelong connection with Greece - particularly the enchanting island of Hydra.

Years of visits, memories, landscapes, light and colour have found their way onto Heather’s canvases, inspiring the beautiful collection Colours of Greece.

We’re proud to spotlight James Farrar, whose exhibition Echoes in Relief showcases exceptional large-scale hand-cut lino prints that are as technically impressive as they are deeply personal.

A recent VCA graduate, James explores identity, memory, and belonging through intricate printmaking. As an adopted Korean Australian, his work draws on mythology, folklore, dance, music, and movement to express the complexity of his inner world.

Every print is meticulously hand carved, revealing remarkable detail and inviting viewers to spend time discovering the many stories woven into each piece.
