Lobethal Archives and Historical Museum Lobethal - 'Valley of Praise'. Nestled in an Adelaide Hills valley, 38 km from Adelaide.

The Lobethal Archive and Historical Museum is a unique collection of documents and artefacts chronicling the village of Lobethal and surrounding districts founded by Prussian settlers in May 1842. The village was founded in 1842 by Prussian migrants seeking a new life and religious freedom. These industrious pioneers endured the sacrifice of leaving behind the homes they held dear and the arduous and dangerous journey half way around the globe to settle in South Australia.

18 families began a township and community that has a rich history from a cultural, religious, economic and industrial perspective. Please follow this page to learn more about our town and the events we are organising.

AGM done and dusted. Chairperson Dianne, Finance Sue and Secretary/Curator Andrew re-elected. Welcome Committee and new member Alan.
Issues arising; Visit and Open Day time - do they need a re-think? Digital footprint is bringing in more organised tours. Re-organisation of display frames complete with adjusted booklets. Sales of 'surplus-to-needs' publications approved. Accession of family Wardrobe for floor display - another review change to our display. The Chapel now available for viewing on organised tours. The development of an email list to keep contacts informed of LA&HM matters. Want to be involved? Contact us.

First Saturday of the Month Opening this coming Saturday 3rd Oct. From 10am til 2pm. Museum volunteers will be keen to greet visitors and show them around our collection.

Heads up: Due to the high fuel prices (my vehicle takes diesel!) Tinkering Tuesday for this week has been cancelled. Sorry. Next Tuesday 6th of October the Museum will be open in the morning but closed from 1.00pm as the general meeting and then AGM is being held in the Lobethal Lutheran Church foyer (Narthex) from 1.30pm.
If you would like to attend an agenda is available - message or email for a copy. Only paid members can vote - $20.00 subs for the year. Again contact via messenger or email for bank details. PS one cannot use old Post WW1 German Depression banknotes to pay annual fees

Notice: The LAHM AGM will be held on the 6th in place of the regular meeting at 1.30pm at Narthex (Entrance Foyer) of the Lobethal Lutheran Church. Any interested persons is invited to attend but must be a paid member to be able to vote on any issues. $20.00 yearly membership fee is payable. Contacts from the website for further information.

Okay, I'm back from holidays. Tuesday Tinkering is back this coming Tuesday 25th Aug. Spread the word
Also there are some things I would be interested in followers responses. Please read down and give me some feedback.
1. There are 20 people on a waiting list for the Lobethal Relics publication. I would do a run of 30 as we have to provide copies to State Library and Parliament House Library. Do I go ahead and do another print run or are people no longer interested?
2. Christmas time is nearing and Lobethal is gearing up for parade, nativity and lights. Should the Museum be open for visitors on premier nights for visitors to the town?
3. anyone living locally interested in helping the Museum as a volunteer - Front of House, Meet and Greet, Rookie Tour guide?
