Lobethal Archives and Historical Museum Lobethal - 'Valley of Praise'. Nestled in an Adelaide Hills valley, 38 km from Adelaide.

The Lobethal Archive and Historical Museum is a unique collection of documents and artefacts chronicling the village of Lobethal and surrounding districts founded by Prussian settlers in May 1842. The village was founded in 1842 by Prussian migrants seeking a new life and religious freedom. These industrious pioneers endured the sacrifice of leaving behind the homes they held dear and the arduous

and dangerous journey half way around the globe to settle in South Australia.

18 families began a township and community that has a rich history from a cultural, religious, economic and industrial perspective. Please follow this page to learn more about our town and the events we are organising.

Set up and tried out the Museum's new data projector and screen. It's a beauty. I want to try it outdoors and see how it goes at dusk/evening projecting up onto the wall of the Manse/Church office from the plaza. My next project???

Okay, I'm back from holidays. Tuesday Tinkering is back this coming Tuesday 25th Aug. Spread the word
Also there are some things I would be interested in followers responses. Please read down and give me some feedback.
1. There are 20 people on a waiting list for the Lobethal Relics publication. I would do a run of 30 as we have to provide copies to State Library and Parliament House Library. Do I go ahead and do another print run or are people no longer interested?
2. Christmas time is nearing and Lobethal is gearing up for parade, nativity and lights. Should the Museum be open for visitors on premier nights for visitors to the town?
3. anyone living locally interested in helping the Museum as a volunteer - Front of House, Meet and Greet, Rookie Tour guide?

Well! What a significant connection to our Lobethal museum. A visit to Coburg Fortress. Luther took sanctuary there under the protection of the Saxe prince/Elector Johann of Saxony. He wrote his thesis, prayed and influenced the delegations attending the Ausburg Confession Reformation creed. Many interesting items.

Still acknowledging 'connections' to our Museum whilst travelling OS. At Cologne the Equestrian statue of King Friedrich Wilhelm III, a pious man but the main driver that saw the persecution of the 'old Lutherans'. At Rudesheim the Neiderwalddenkmal a memorial to the victory after the Franco-Prussian War that saw the consolidation of the many German states under Prussian leadership to become the German Empire.

Our College and the Zum Weinberge Christ built in 1845. The village I'm stay at has a church built in 1160 by the Normans. The village established by Symon Loccard/Lockhart who was granted the Barony around 1165. Very cool.
