Lobethal Archives and Historical Museum

Lobethal Archives and Historical Museum Lobethal - 'Valley of Praise'. Nestled in an Adelaide Hills valley, 38 km from Adelaide.

The Lobethal Archive and Historical Museum is a unique collection of documents and artefacts chronicling the village of Lobethal and surrounding districts founded by Prussian settlers in May 1842. The village was founded in 1842 by Prussian migrants seeking a new life and religious freedom. These industrious pioneers endured the sacrifice of leaving behind the homes they held dear and the arduous

and dangerous journey half way around the globe to settle in South Australia.

18 families began a township and community that has a rich history from a cultural, religious, economic and industrial perspective. Please follow this page to learn more about our town and the events we are organising.

This is my 'Relic'. The ruins of Pantakora, the Zilm homestead built in 1878 just outside Booleroo Centre.

Thanks to all who have ordered 'Lobethal Relics' books. Only 3 left of the first run of 35. If interest continues I'll start a waiting list and if there is enough interest we'll do another run. But we'll need a minimum of 20 to get any bulk order discounts.
Next, remember that our May History Festival scheduled openings have concluded. Thanks to those who attended. We revert to our normal openings in June.
Lastly, was given an old Lobethal Public Primary school photo. Related to anyone in there?

Well that's it for LA&HM done for this year's History Festival Month. A quiet morning at the Museum after giving an address to the Lutheran Congregation on the theme of 'Connections' using my experience as a focus. Finished the day with some visitors with connection to the Hirthe family. Ended up discovering other friendship connections. Thanks for sharing. Thanks all who visited over the 4 Open Days.

Trip into Adelaide to pick up Art Supplies for the Museum's refreshing displays program, when I passed my favourite statue. In keeping with this month's History Festival theme, a connection jumped out at me. Lobethal's John Hartley Moore is listed on the memorial. Another acknowledgement of his service and ultimate sacrifice. Thanks.
