“ I’m here at the Serpentine Gallery in Lismore….the gallery, always my favourite, is looking so good
with the two exhibitions currently on show until Saturday 24 th October:
M & M brings together the works of Malcolm Poole and Michael Fairweather. Malcolm’s
abstracted landscapes created from an aerial perspective are fascinating. While Michael’s
mainly digitally drawn inkjet prints evoke a sense of place and space.
Still Wet is a collection of exciting recently created works by 27 Serpentine members.
Just a few that caught my eye:
I was instantly drawn to the evocative misty hews of Brenda Bryant’s oil on canvas “Sienna
Shallows”, and her “Where Dragonflies Dance” is mesmerizing with her depiction of
delicate cobwebs caught in the morning light in the bullrushes.
Grab an umbrella! Tony Leitch’s urban landscapes in oil of streets after dark are so skillfully
painted they instantly transported me to those rainy evenings .
Susan Gumley’s waterscapes in acrylic beautifully capture the underwater world with
dazzling sunlight shining through the water.
Pete Kafka’s mixed media abstracts are a feast to the eye in both colour and form.
Warwick Wright’s depiction of birds in the trees in acrylic ink collage are joyful and
beautifully crafted
…and so many more interesting works to make us linger longer… “
