Winjanaroad Studio

Winjanaroad Studio One of a kind wearable art and woven tapestries This is a gallery of fibre art pieces by Jenny van Gorkum. Each piece is unique.

My weaving is inspired by the Saori style of weaving developed in Japan in the 1970s by Misao Jo. Saori weaving encourages freedom of creative expression. There are no rules, restrictions or mistakes. Each piece is an individual expression of the weaver’s unique creativity. An important aspect of this style of weaving is for it not to look like machine made cloth, instead to embrace the irregulari

ties and lack of uniformity, as a mark of its handmade uniqueness. The weaving is intuitive, embracing colour and texture, empowering the weaver to express their true self. The 4 main principles of Saori weaving are:
• Consider the difference between a machine and a human being
• Be bold and adventurous
• Look out through eyes that shine
• Inspire one another, and everyone in the group
