Can you help Loco Shed Echuca? We're looking for some community-minded people who'd be keen to help us keep the Loco Shed precinct neat & tidy as restoration works continue.

We've got all the gear, all that's missing is you!

The Loco Shed is a 100% volunteer driven, non-profit. The group exists for the sole purpose of refurbishing the space to become a multi-purpose, community-use facility.

Loco Shed Echuca is open TODAY from 12:30pm - 2:30pm, come and take a walk through as you wait for the Steamrail Victoria Heritage Train running shuttles to Rochester through the afternoon.

Steam Rally Echuca Moama kicks off today as well at Rotary Park with the Steam, Iron & Trades Revival.

Please note:
It is imperative that if you choose to see the train from a passenger platform, ensure you remain behind the yellow line at all times and if viewing the train line-side, ensure you do not enter the railway corridor or trespass at any time and remain well clear from the edge of any railway track. This includes railway sidings, yards (used & disused) and the main lines where trains pass by. We thank you for your co-operation.

Loco Shed Echuca is open THIS SATURDAY from 12:30pm - 2:30pm, alongside the Steamrail Victoria Steam Train shuttles. Come inside and see the concept plans for the Shed, alongside the recently completed works inside and out. We look forward to welcoming you.

🚂 Steamrail shuttles are now SOLD OUT. You're welcome to come and view the train from the Loco Shed or Railway Station platform.

☕️ Hot Drinks onsite thank to My Coffee Cart - a great spot to stay dry and wam while waiting for the Heritage Train.

🚜 Steam Rally Echuca Moama is on Sat & Sun at Rotary Park with working exhibits showcasing our unique history with Steam Iron & Trades.

We are disappointed to share that Loco Shed Echuca was broken into across the weekend, with significant damage to the exterior fencing, heritage doorway & surrounding brickwork.

The building is undergoing significant renovations to become a multi-purpose community space - and issues like this are completely avoidable.

The Loco Shed project is driven by volunteers and funded through fundraising, donations and grants. As a community organisation this is another setback and significant cost.

We understand there is interest in the building, it's an amazing piece of Echuca's vibrant history. The building is open to the public several times a year through the refurbishment, with the next being June 5th alongside the arrival of Steamrail Victoria's Steam Train shuttles.

CCTV is being pulled from the Railway Station & Loco Shed - but we urge anyone with information regarding the break-in to contact First Constable Collins at Echuca Police on 5483 1500.

Some comparison shots showing the exterior works undertaken at Loco Shed Echuca - and boy does it make a difference 🤩

These works were funded by the Victorian Government's 'Living Heritage Grants', which have enabled refurbishment of the Loco Shed to continue. This includes external and rooftop drainage, weather sealing, painting & more.

The windows are complete 😀 All exterior and rooftop windows on the Loco Shed have now been fixed, sealed or replaced. In addition to the new drainage, roof repairs and painting - the exterior is coming together.

What you may not have noticed, is each end of Loco Shed Echuca features a 9 panel porthole window, partially embedded into the brickwork. Over time these had been damaged beyond repair.

Echuca local Brendan Kelly Design has handcrafted these replica windows to fit - and has done an amazing job 👏
