The Historic Port of Echuca precinct is an authentic working steam port, home to Australia’s largest fleet of steam-driven paddlesteamers. Although its major commodity has changed from wool to people, Port of Echuca still operates much the same as it did in the 1860s, with our shipwrights and steam engineers providing a vital role in the Port's operations today, just as they would have in the late 1800s.

There is a eerie beauty to a cold winter's morning 🍂

This is the PS Adelaide, and she is the oldest working wooden-hulled paddlesteamer in the world.

Named after the niece of one of her owners, the PS Adelaide has lived at Echuca for generations, and we can only imagine the stories she would tell if she could.

The PS Adelaide is a special boat used for special occasions only. If you've had the honour of being onboard, you'll know she has a mighty engine for a boat her size.

This year she celebrates her 160th birthday, making her as old as The Port itself.

Before diesel, and before electric, there was steam! 💨

If you haven't seen the PS Pevensey up close, you may be surprised by just how much steam the original paddlesteamer engine can produce!

Powered by red gum timber, the PS Pevensey is capable of reaching around 8 knots, or 14.8 kilometres per hour ⛴️

Situated between the sister towns of Echuca and Moama, along the border of VIC and NSW, The Port of Echuca is a perfect destination, or detour, this King's Birthday weekend.
