RECONCILIATION WEEK ~ MINIMAKERS

Our little Minimakers this week joined us for a very special Reconciliation Week session, where our Educator read a special story and participants had fun creating their own artworks using resources provided by Reconciliation Australia!

Reconciliation week is on this year from 27 May - 3 June and celebrates 25 years with the theme ‘All In’, a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.

Dubbo Regional Council is proudly committed to building long term change in regard to reconciliation through the Reconciliation Action Plan, of which this activity is represented within.

Join us for Minimakers every Wednesday and Thursdays during term time from 10am - 11am. A free program for little ones aged 3-5, no registration required.

Check out the innovative works made from waste materials in our current Waste 2 Art exhibition, created by community members, school students and artists from the Dubbo Region. The theme for this year is ‘Shrink Your Footprint’.

NGA PROFESSIONAL LEARNING PROGRAM ~ AT THE WPCC

Join National Gallery artist educators on 26th June for a full-day professional learning program at Western Plains Cultural Centre.

The program includes creative learning strategies for engaging with works from the national collection, with a focus on Yayoi Kusama's THE SPIRITS OF THE PUMPKINS DESCENDED INTO THE HEAVENS.

This session is open to early learning, primary, secondary and tertiary educators, and other youth and arts professionals.

Morning Tea and Lunch provided.

FREE NGA YOUTH ART LAB ~ With Fashion Designer Nixi Killick

Art Labs is a series of artist-led workshops connecting young audiences with artists, artmaking and the National Gallery collection.

In this free Art Lab for young people aged 13-18, join fashion designer and artist Nixi Killick and like-minded creative peers for a sculpture-making workshop inspired by Yayoi Kusama’s THE SPIRITS OF THE PUMPKINS DESCENDED INTO THE HEAVENS.

Nixi Killick is a fashion designer, artist and self-described “Imagineer” known for creating vibrant, psychedelic and futuristic wearable art worn by the likes of Lady Gaga.
