⭐️How long have you been working at the Old Dubbo Gaol? ⭐️
I've been at the Old Dubbo Gaol since December 2025!

⭐️What do you do at the ODG, and what is your favourite part? ⭐️
It's a role that varies each and every time I come into the workplace, but I wouldn't want it any other way. At the Old Dubbo Gaol, I clean, tidy, organise, restock anything the site requires me to. I also get to perform, act, and make someone's day even just a little bit better. That means the world to me.
My favorite part about the Old Dubbo Gaol would absolutely be the people. I love getting to know people, what they do, who they are; and making sure they are guaranteed to experience a spectacular time at the Old Dubbo Gaol.

⭐️What is a 'hidden gem' of the ODG that visitors shouldn't miss? ⭐️
Without a doubt, the Twilight Tour and the Beyond the Grave tour! They are genuinely such wonderful experiences, regardless of which one you participate in! I enjoy both of the tours; however my personal favourite is the Beyond the Grave. It is so informative, intriguing, and the tour guides are awesome. The late-night time of the tour really adds to the experience, and to truly discover the lives and conditions the prisoners underwent is incredibly interesting and definitely gives you a new perspective on various things. My Co-workers are spectacular with all of their performances and guides, and I greatly recommend either one of these tours if you're looking for a fun and memorable experience!

FROM OUR COLLECTION // HOSPITAL BRANDY 🍾

Food and drink were considered restorative treatments in the 1800s, so doctors frequently prescribed brandy, ale, and port wine for sick prisoners 🍷
In fact, the NSW Prisons Annual Report of 1895 noted that nothing caused prisoners to fake illness (malinger) more, than knowing the hospital offered wine, brandy, or ale as medical comforts!

Cheers to that! 🥃 Would you trust the doctors orders? 😉
