Dundullimal Homestead - National Trust of Australia NSW 1840s Dundullimal Homestead is a piece of living history. Your living history. The master bedroom is complete with an iron bed and a campaign chest.

Believed to be the oldest slab house in Australia, Dundullimal and its sandstone stables are a living illustration of rural life on an isolated property. The grounds feature wide open green field, picnic areas and a cafe, perfect for families to make a day of it. Its story is one of amazing endeavour and vision, evidenced in the creation of a finely-crafted vintage home. The homestead has survived in near original condition from a time when the land was beyond the limits of settlement. Built in the early 1840s as the head station of a 6,500 hectare squatting run, the homestead is Dubbo’s oldest building that is open to the public. Its interior is remarkably sophisticated for its genre, with louvres and multiple-pane glazed openings onto the verandah. The imposing sitting room is noted for its ‘tent’ shaped plaster ceiling and wallpaper, reproduced from an 1850 patent. The house is an interesting contrast to the traditional sandstone stables complex. The ‘working’ areas include the blacksmith’s forge, coach room, sunken cool room, stores and stables. This building reflects the practical yet essential elements of rural life on a large, isolated property during the nineteenth century. Visit the Dundullimal Homestead’s function centre, picnic area and wide open space and enjoy the grounds for a picnic and the gift shop. Dundullimal is Dubbo’s oldest building that is open to the public and its location is perfect for weddings and functions. ADMISSION:

🎨 Meet the Artist: Ann Brandon

Inspired by the colours of the evening sky, the broad Australian landscape and the intricate details of native plants, Ann Brandon finds beauty in both grand vistas and quiet moments of observation.

Ann is particularly drawn to gnarled trees that stand resilient against the elements while providing shelter for the plants and animals around them. She also seeks out what she calls “windows” in nature – those fleeting scenes that reveal the brilliance, complexity and beauty of the natural world in a single glance.

Having painted and drawn for as long as she can remember, Ann's artistic journey was nurtured by her mother and grandmother. Today, she continues to learn through travel, observation and a lifelong love of creating.

Working across drawing, watercolour and painting, Ann captures the unique colours, textures and character of Australian landscapes. Her artworks reflect a deep appreciation for nature and a belief that when we give the environment space to thrive, it rewards us with extraordinary beauty.

Ann's exhibition includes delicate botanical studies, evocative bushland scenes, heritage-inspired sketches and rural landscapes that celebrate the diversity and resilience of the Australian environment.

Meet the Artists | Jo Efoti

📸 Dundullimal Spring Art Fair | Artist Profile Series

We're delighted to introduce Joanna Efoti, one of six artists exhibiting in the upcoming Dundullimal Spring Art Fair.

Joanna's love of photography began at an early age, using her grandfather's 35mm film camera to capture the world around her. Fifteen years ago, encouraged by her husband to formally study photography, she discovered a passion for photographing flowers, while also developing a fascination with whales and seagulls.

For Joanna, photography is truly "painting with light". Inspired by renowned photographers such as Ken Duncan and Ansel Adams, she is always looking for the way light transforms a scene and reveals its beauty.

Many of Joanna's floral photographs are inspired by the wildflowers of the Australian outback. These images hold personal memories of life in the Bourke region, of finding beauty in red dirt landscapes, and of moments of wonder, discovery and connection.

"They always fill me with wonder and the need for just one more image."

Visitors to the Dundullimal Spring Art Fair will have the opportunity to view and purchase Joanna's photography alongside a diverse collection of work from fellow regional artists.

🎨 Dundullimal Spring Art Fair | Artist Profile Series

We're delighted to introduce Debbie Murray (MurrayInk), one of six artists exhibiting in the upcoming Dundullimal Spring Art Fair.

Primarily a drawing artist, Debbie has recently expanded her practice to include acrylic and mixed media painting. Since first exhibiting at regional art fairs in 2020, she has built a significant body of work and continues to explore new ideas, techniques and creative directions.

For Debbie, art is more than a creative outlet. It is also an important part of wellbeing, providing space for reflection, learning and personal growth. Through her work, she shares her artistic journey while continuing to develop her practice and connect with others through creativity.

Visitors to the Dundullimal Spring Art Fair will have the opportunity to view and purchase Debbie's work alongside a diverse collection by fellow regional artists.

Meet the Artists | Phoebe Maroulis

We’re delighted to introduce Phoebe Maroulis, one of six artists exhibiting in the upcoming Dundullimal Spring Art Fair.

As a visual artist, land steward and social impact practitioner living in rural Australia, Phoebe is drawn to the spaces where creativity, culture and community meet. Her work explores connection between people, place and story, inviting viewers to slow down, observe and listen more deeply.

For Phoebe, art is not something created in isolation.

"My creations do not begin with me, and they do not end with me. They emerge through me. They belong to something larger: to land, to memory, to kinship, to curiosity."

Working with natural forms, layered textures and mark-making inspired by landscape and experience, Phoebe's artworks reflect a thoughtful and deeply connected creative practice.

Visitors to the Dundullimal Spring Art Fair will have the opportunity to experience Phoebe's work alongside a diverse collection from fellow regional artists in the unique heritage setting of Dundullimal Homestead.

Meet the Artists | Rachel Cant

We're delighted to introduce Rachel Cant, one of six artists exhibiting in the Dundullimal Spring Art Fair from 10 October to 7 November.

Rachel is a representational artist from the Lower Macquarie floodplains of NSW. Living and working in the bush she loves, she finds endless inspiration in the landscapes, livestock, birdlife and people that surround her.

Her work captures atmosphere, changing light, fleeting moments and the quiet beauty of the Australian landscape. Through her paintings, Rachel seeks to tell a story and preserve a moment in time.

While she has always drawn and painted, Rachel has focused more seriously on pastel painting over the past 15 years, exhibiting locally and undertaking commissioned work. A favourite quote from artist Richard Schmid reflects her philosophy that"art has the power to do good."

Rachel paints with appreciation and gratitude for the creation around her.

Visitors to the Dundullimal Spring Art Fair will have the opportunity to view and purchase Rachel's work alongside a diverse collection of artworks from regional artists throughout the exhibition.

🎨 Coming Soon: Dundullimal Spring Art Fair

This spring, Dundullimal Homestead will showcase the work of six talented regional artists in the inaugural Dundullimal Spring Art Fair.

Running from 10 October to 7 November, the exhibition celebrates the creativity, stories and landscapes that inspire artists across our region. Set within the historic surroundings of Dundullimal Homestead, the exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to experience original artwork in a unique heritage setting.

Over the coming weeks, we'll be introducing each of the exhibiting artists and sharing a glimpse into their work.
