Who is FIVE LINES?

Meet Giovanna Scott.

Giovanna looks at mundane everyday objects - a lonely coffee cup, a teapot, a piece of fruit - and thinks, “Yes, this needs some aggressive, completely unnecessary embroidery.”

She spends hours hiding away in her ‘galleragio’ layering vibrant acrylic painting with hand-cut, custom-painted paper collage and free-form machine stitching.

Drawing inspiration from the rhythms and structures of nature — strata, shifting terrain, waterways and aerial perspectives — she creates richly layered compositions using acrylic, inks and collage.

Leah is a multi-disciplinary artist obsessed with texture and in love with colour.

Her work is inspired by her local environment, from gum flowers to the beachside landscape, celebrating the small details in our everyday world that deserve a little more attention.

Leah creates for the joy of surprising people with the beauty and wonder found in nature. Her richly textured work combines acrylic, gouache, ink, machine embroidery, pencil, oil pastel and collage.
