Harminder Judge

Opening Reception:
Thursday, 5 November 2026 | 6 - 8 PM

Exhibition Dates: 6 November - 5 December 2026

Harminder Judge b.1982 Rotherham, UK/ Lives and works in London, UK. He graduated from the Royal Academy Schools, London in 2021.

Imbued with an indelible vibrancy and depth, Harminder Judge makes transportive sculptural works that simultaneously reference Indian neo-tantric painting, as well as the abstract expressionist and colourfield movements of the 20th century. His alchemical process involves layering pigments into pools of wet plaster followed by prolonged periods of excavation; sanding, polishing and oiling. Culminating in expansive modular panels, and ineffable shapes which seem to hover off the wall, colour, forms, and compositions are allowed to reveal themselves and intensify over time.

Puppies Puppies (Jade Guanaro Kuriki-Olivo)
Pink Triangle (Holocaust patch transitioning into a reclaimed symbol by grassroots political action group ACT UP (AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power) (2026)

During the N**i era, the pink triangle was used in concentration camps to identify prisoners persecuted and imprisoned on the grounds of their actual or perceived homosexuality. Individuals who crossed traditional gender boundaries or wore clothing associated with another gender were prosecuted either under Paragraph 175, which criminalized sexual acts between men, or under broader, vaguely defined provisions concerning “public nuisance” or “asocial” behavior.
In the 1980s, the LGBTQ+ movement reclaimed the pink triangle as a symbol of q***r resistance and AIDS solidarity.

Puppies Puppies presents the triangle in constant motion, holding these histories of violence and resistance in continuous tension while making visible how symbols can be and are constantly contested, reclaimed, and transformed. -excerpt from exhibition text by Anna Roberta Goetz

The work is part of the exhibition Clothes (Kleidung) curated by Anna Roberta Goetz and Jade Guanaro Kuriki-Olivo for this years curated by

Underpinned by desire, transformation, and an understanding of the important role the shadow plays, Andrés’s work invites an intimate psychological experience: an excavation sparked by loosened, slightly abstracted images rendered as if viewed only by candlelight. These images pull one into oneself and allow the inside to turn out. - text excerpt DJ Hellerman

For Clothes (Kleidung), Puppies Puppies presents exclusively newly commissioned works. Clothing Drive (for Trans, Q***r, GNC and 2S+ people) (2026) takes the form of a social sculpture that accumulates donated clothes while simultaneously allowing members of the trans community to take them free of charge, continually dispersing and reforming the work. Venus of the Rags (Transitioned) (2026), meanwhile, appropriates and transitions an art-historical icon: Michelangelo Pistoletto’s Venus of the Rags (1967). Here, Venus, an iconic motif of the Western art canon, takes the form of the artist’s own body, while clothes she no longer wears become the rags. Bringing together two bodies and several moments in time, the work suggests transformation not as a rejection of the past, but as a way of carrying it forward.
Together, the works understand clothes as more than objects. They touch and protect the body, carry traces of past selves, communicate identity, and move between people. They hold memory while also enabling change. This understanding of clothing connects directly to bell hooks’ conception of love as an active practice. To care is to act; to recognise another person’s needs is to take responsibility for their wellbeing. In Clothes (Kleidung), love therefore becomes material: it is found in what is remembered, reclaimed, shared, given away, and made available to another. — excerpt from exhibition text by Anna Roberta Goetz

Madly meeting logically in this hour.

Madly meeting logically in this hour. is about magic and mating. The title references Section IV of Hart Crane’s Voyages, which captures the complexity of love and its entanglement with time, embodiment, and the carnal.
Drawing on the seething psychological environments of Francis Bacon, the turbulent brushwork, intense color, and distorted forms of Chaïm Soutine, and the history of still-life butchery found in the work of Annibale Carracci and Rembrandt, Andrés brings this art historical foreground into conversation with the excruciating pressures of contemporary life, shaped by rapid technological change, wealth extraction, social isolation, and increasing precarity.

Underpinned by desire, transformation, and an understanding of the important role the shadow plays, Andrés’s work
invites an intimate psychological experience: an excavation sparked by loosened, slightly abstracted images rendered
as if viewed only by candlelight. These images pull one into oneself and allow the inside to turn out. (Text excerpt: exhibition text by DJ Hellerman djhellerman)
