Hey there Mosadi 🌸✨
I know we’ve been a little bit quiet on here but life has been a lot of ebbs and flow and I am nothing but grateful because I get to live in moments I used to pray for 🥰! There’s something beautiful about looking back on your life and realising that each hard season in your life prepared you for something bigger and it gives me great joy to even be in a position where I get to reflect constantly because reflection breeds so much gratitude.
I had a talk this past weekend in my hometown Burgersfort and I was asked to reflect on my journey with Re Basadi and what 10+ years of leading it has taught me. Outside of the lessons, I realised one thing. Re Basadi is for the woman you were. Re Basadi is for the woman you are. Re Basadi is for the woman you’re becoming. For this Founder’s Note, I wanted to reflect on how was born (literally and figuratively 😅)
I was relatively young when I founded Re Basadi, just a young girl with a mission on her heart but what I didn’t realise was that it is my lifelong work and work I intend to carry out as long as I AM. Our Retreat was born during a postpartum depression phase in my life…. I’d just given birth to my 2nd child, I felt fine… because these are children I’ve always prayed for so “surely this isn’t postpartum depression” “you’re just have a bad month, you’ll get over it”, I constantly told myself. In our culture, a new mother isolates herself as long as she can and in those periods of motherhood, everything I went through and my child went through was between just us. I stopped feeling like myself. I stopped wanting to pursue the things I loved and I stopped wanting to take care of me. That was my experience but I knew I wanted to feel alive again. I wanted to be poured into and after 3 years of not hosting Re Basadi events, I challenged myself to put something together. That night as we sat on a table, just 10 incredible women talking, something in me shifted. My purpose was renewed and I knew more than ever that I want to evolve with this community and I want to evolve for this community
