As we look forward to welcoming children back for another holiday programme and children’s festival supported by Ithemba Foundation, we can’t help but look back with gratitude on the journey that has brought us here.
Our March edition, Ways of Knowing the World, invited children to explore the many ways we learn, make meaning and connect with the world around us; through making, observing, listening, collectivism, storytelling, play, and the knowledge carried through our lineages.
These experiences are only possible because of our community of care that continues to imagine and build them together.
Thank you to the children who return season after season and whose parents and caregivers continue to trust us to learn with them while nurturing these relationships through play and learning.
Thank you to our many collaborators, with special thanks to Daliwonga Phantshwa ( Down 2 Earth Living Soil NPC ), Khensani Mhlotlole, and Virginia Chakandiwa; for bringing your creativity, care and unique curiosities to the last edition. Thank you for creating with us, spaces where children could wonder, make, question and discover.
And to Ithemba Foundation, thank you for your continued trust and partnership over the years in bringing our annual Holiday Programme to Jewel City. Your ongoing support makes these experiences possible for hundreds of children year after year.
Over the coming week, we’ll be revisiting moments from Ways of Knowing the World as we welcome everyone back for our next edition, Sustainable Futures and Young Citizens ✨
We’re excited to share the journey with you. 💛
