A very special thank you to everyone who attended the opening last night. Your presence, support and encouragement made the evening truly remarkable. It was wonderful to see people coming together to celebrate Graon, Kastom, Identiti, Hom and Koneksen through art. 🌺🎨

As part of the tribute exhibition to Juliette Pita, “The Coconut Tree, Tree of Life”, an artistic residency is currently bringing together in Port-Vila artists from Vanuatu, New Caledonia and Fiji for a time of creation, transmission and exchange: Fany Edwin, Waave, Reapi Blyde, Mere Rasue, Amelia Lovo, Tania Calvo, Elizabeth Kaio and Carole Réocreux.

Organised by the Women Wetem Kala collective, in collaboration with the Alliance française de Port-Vila and with the support of the Fondation Suzanne Bastien, this residency pays tribute to the artistic and human legacy of Juliette Pita, a major figure in contemporary art in Vanuatu.

For the past few days, the artists have been sharing their practices, developing collective and individual works, and taking part in a shared reflection around themes that were dear to Juliette Pita: nature, women, transmission, traditions and spirituality.

This residency will include several opportunities for the public to meet the artists, including an open stage, discussions, and the opening night of the exhibition on Wednesday 20 May from 5pm at the Fondation Suzanne Bastien. Vernissage Expo Hommage à Juliette Pita - Le Cocotier Arbre de Vie
