"The Vanuatu Kaljoral Senta and the people of Yakel are proud to announce the official launch of the documentary film Imalum on today 30th April 2026 at the National Museum.

Filmed over two years in close collaboration with Yakel Village on Tanna, Imalum explores the deep connection between land, identity, and kastom governance.

The film brings forward real community voices, sharing stories about land ownership, stewardship, the challenges and solutions.

This powerful documentary is not just a film, but a platform for dialogue on protecting customary land and preserving the cultural heritage of Vanuatu for future generations. Everyone is invited to join us for this important and meaningful event.

This marks an exciting step toward building future cultural exchange and tourism growth ๐ŸŒบ

๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ‡ป๐Ÿ‡บ A Proud Moment for Vanuatuโ€™s Cultural Heritage ๐Ÿ‡ป๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ“š

We are honored to receive a valuable academic contribution from Ms. Nasse Clairence, who has generously donated her Masterโ€™s thesis to the National Library and Archives of Vanuatu.

Her research, titled โ€œThe Role of Women in the Tanna Community (Case Study: Circumcision Ceremony and Menstruation Ceremony of Tanna Women)โ€, highlights the important role of women in kastom life and traditions on Tanna Island. This work is a significant contribution to preserving and understanding our cultural identity and knowledge.

The National Library and Archives of Vanuatu sincerely thanks Ms. Nasse Clairence for her meaningful donation. This thesis will serve as an important resource for students, researchers, and future generations.

Let us continue to support and celebrate local research that strengthens our heritage ๐Ÿ“–โœจ

The UNESCO/Japan Funds-in-Trust (JFIT) project (2022โ€“2024) on safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) in emergencies, local efforts were made in strengthening the connection between culture and disaster risk reduction. The Vanuatu Cultural Centre carried out workshops in these communities to explore how ICH can be integrated into Disaster Risk Reduction activitiesโ€”drawing on knowledge passed down through generations that can help mitigate the impacts of volcanic activity and other natural hazards.
