A couple guests asked our docents about this class photo: "Which first grader is President Nixon?" (Answer in the comments.) Docents always love answering guests' questions!

His first grade teacher was Miss Mary M. George. She called him quiet, studious, and solemn and felt he was born with knowledge. Richard Nixon's mother had taught him to read at the age of six, and he was soon reading at the second-grade level. Miss George recommended Richard Nixon skip to the third grade.
