American Precision Museum The American Precision Museum in Windsor, VT, celebrates the birthplace of modern manufacturing. Open daily, May 1 through the end of October, 10am - 5pm.

Explore historic machines, hands-on exhibits, and stories of innovation that connect the past, present, and future of making. The Museum preserves the heritage of the mechanical arts, celebrates the ingenuity of our mechanical forebears, and explores the effects of their work on our everyday lives. The American Precision Museum, housed in the original 1846 Robbins & Lawrence Armory, now holds the

largest collection of historically significant machine tools in the nation. Special exhibits tell stories about the people who make and use machine tools. Open weekdays November through April! General Admission

Bridgeport Serial Number One just rolled into Chicago proper, and it's practically parked in the Bridgeport neighborhood.

We didn't plan that. A hundred-year-old milling machine landing in a neighborhood with the same name, we'll take the coincidence.

Today we learned the sad news that Jeanne Gibson, who represented the “Rosie the Riveter” campaign during World War II, died Thursday at age 100. She inspired multiple generations of women to enter the trades and participate in manufacturing jobs. To mark this occasion, we give a shout out to Vermont Works for Women an organization that surely can trace their inspiration to Rosie. They introduce women to work in construction and skilled trades in a 7-week training program for adult women, called, Trailblazers. Rosie, depicted here by 's Education Specialist, .holleran, certainly was a Trailblazer!
