The Museum of the Waxhaws The Museum of the Waxhaws is administered by the Andrew Jackson Historical Foundation, Inc. Recreational walking, running, hiking, dog walking, etc.

The Museum of the Waxhaws is Union County’s cultural and history learning center. We are a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization managed by a Board of Directors. The Museum showcases and demonstrates history and culture to visitors in the context of indoor and outdoor exhibits, artistic performances, historical reenactments, and group tours. The basis of our mission is to teach residents of Union County about our regional history. For security reasons, when our facility is closed our grounds and outdoor exhibits are NOT open to the public. are NOT allowed on museum ground at any time. Commercial/Professional photography is prohibited. Pets are not allowed on the grounds.

A message arrives that will change the course of the war in the Carolinas.

In this final scene from Trail to Victory: The Story of Kings Mountain, General Nathanael Greene learns that George Washington has appointed him to command the Southern Army. The appointment followed the Patriot defeat at Camden; just weeks earlier, the Patriot victory at Kings Mountain had dealt a serious blow to British efforts to rally Loyalist support.

Greene took command in Charlotte in December 1780, inheriting an army in desperate need of rebuilding. His campaign would carry the fight through the Carolinas from the Patriot victory at Cowpens to the costly Battle of Guilford Courthouse and keep pressure on British forces across the South.

Taylor Osborne portrays General Greene and wrote and directed this immersive production at Hickory Ridge Living History Museum in Boone, North Carolina.

We love supporting the places and people who bring history to life! ❤️

We had the chance to visit Hickory Ridge Living History Museum and experience Trail to Victory: The Story of Kings Mountain, an immersive journey into the campaign that led to the pivotal October 7, 1780 battle.

The experience was written and directed by a very familiar face to the Waxhaws: Taylor Osborne of the 6th North Carolina, who has joined us for our American Revolution events. In this clip, Taylor portrays Lord Cornwallis as he receives the news of the Patriot victory at Kings Mountain.

We’re grateful for the people who share their time and talents to help us experience the past and we’re always glad to support fellow history sites doing the same. If you’re in the Boone area, we encourage you to visit Hickory Ridge Living History Museum and see Trail to Victory for yourself!

Museum volunteers are more than a team…they’re family! And some of that family travels a long way.

Dean couldn’t bring his beloved horse, Cats, along on his family trip to Egypt. We’re guessing Cats might not have loved all that desert sand anyway! So Dean found a camel for the adventure and made sure his Museum of the Waxhaws shirt came along.

From the Waxhaws to the pyramids, our museum made it to another continent! We love Dean and are so glad he’s part of our museum family. 🐪❤️
