An artist unafraid to push the boundaries, Godfrey Matangira is renowned for sculpting women with flowing hair.
This abstract work in the gemstone red jasper is a study in the years and years it takes to perfect working stone.
Red jasper is not easy to carve, is especially dense at 7 on the mohs scale and the ability to create both the positive and negative space in this piece was extremely challenging.
