We just hosted an amazing field trip last week for a wonderful group of seniors with the Meals on Wheels of South Texas.

They visited us for an exciting tour and art activity. We’re very glad to be able to provide these seniors with a space for community connection and enrichment. They learned all about the sculptures of our featured artist Stan Irvin, and then got to make their own sculpture art with colorful clay! The seniors made their own bowls, and sculptures with different mixed colors.

We had a great time helping them let their creativity roam free as they expressed their artistic vision. We’re excited to continue collaborating with Meals on Wheels to bring more art experiences to senior members of the community.

We’re back at the Brownson Home as summer wraps up for their students and school is back in session! This week, the kids learned about the different types of art from Ancient China, their ink paintings, the terracotta sculptures, and calligraphy too. Their activity takes inspiration from the traditional ink-wash style of paintings. Using only ink and water, beautiful landscapes with mountains, forests, and rivers were painted on paper and silk. 🖌️

The kids also used ink and water to make their own nature paintings. They used their brush to create different stroke patterns for their grass, trees, and mountaintops. We loved getting to see what unique scenes they would make. We’re very excited to be back at The Brownson Home with more fun and educational art!
