We recently held our last Nave-Vine Afterschool Art class for the semester! Summer is on the horizon and the students got a taste of some summer fun with their last activity of the semester, making mini paper plate beaches! 🏝️

They got to customize their beach however they wanted. Adding beach chairs, buried treasure marked with an X, a beach campfire and much more! Their crafts will be a reminder of all the fun art we’ve made together throughout the spring semester. We hope all of our Nave-Vine Afterschool Art students have an amazing Summer! We’re very excited to make more art with The Vine School students very soon!

At our latest Children’s Art Experience class, the kids had so much fun making art in the fresh springtime air, coloring and drawing by the Nave Museum’s garden! Using the garden and the art of Mary Lou Klotzman and Richard Korczynski as their inspiration, they used color pencils to capture the colors and shapes of the flowers from their perspective. They did an amazing job including the tiny details of the petal shapes and even the bees and butterflies that visit our garden. 🦋

Lastly, they used chalk to decorate the museum’s walkway with beautiful flowers. It perfectly matched the springtime art the awaits inside. We’re always happy to make art with everyone in our community! We hope you’ll join us at our next Children’s Art Experience, coming soon on May 30th! 🌸

Our latest Art Experience: Teen Edition class was a dynamic evening full of creativity! The teens did amazing drawing the flowers and plants from the museum garden with detail and color! 🌼

They also had a lot of fun sculpting different flowers both big and small. Inspired by the wildflower artworks of Mary Lou Klotzman and Richard Korczynski, they took inspiration from nature to make beautiful springtime art outside surrounded by nature.

We’re happy to announce more Teen Art Experience classes will be coming soon in the future. Now once a month during each exhibit, get your teen ready to make art with us at The Nave! We’ll be announcing the date of our next class soon!

While Korczynski’s photographs offer a personal window into the various colorful fields and country roads of Texas, all captured through the professional lens of a camera. Take a look at the way Korczynski captured the quiet beauty of this foggy bluebonnet field!

Over at the Boys and Girls club, we brought their students a unique activity centered around the art of beautiful writing; calligraphy! The students got to use brushes and ink to practice painting symbols from a traditional Philippine writing system called Baybayin. They loved getting to write as many words and sentences as they could!

They first practiced with pencil before trying out the ink calligraphy. Some words they liked to write were dog, cat, moon and the sentence “I love art”! They were very excited to try writing in another language. Calligraphy can be done with any language, to make a masterpiece out of any sentence.
