The Murphy African American Museum extends a heartfelt thank you to the Youth Department and advisors of First Missionary Baptist Church of Moundville, under the leadership of Pastor Albert Ike, for spending the evening with us.

Thank you for choosing to experience Tuscaloosa’s rich and resilient history through our guided tours. From standing in the sacred space of First African Baptist Church, where the story of Bloody Tuesday reminds us of the courage and sacrifice of local foot soldiers in the fight for civil rights, to walking through the halls of the Murphy African American Museum, where the voices, triumphs, and legacy of our community come alive—each stop offers an unforgettable journey through history.

These are more than tours; they are experiences that educate, inspire, and challenge us to remember where we’ve been as we shape where we’re going.

Come walk where history happened. Hear the stories that textbooks often leave untold. Book your group, church, school, or organization and discover the powerful legacy that lives right here in Tuscaloosa.

Another wonderful Holiday Open House is in the books! The evening was absolutely perfect—filled with guests touring the museum, delicious food, and the soulful holiday sounds of saxophonist Mr. Jimmy Hill.
This special night would not have been possible without the dedicated support of the Murphy African American Museum Board of Management, our amazing volunteers Valerie Autry and Irene Byrd, and most importantly, Pinnacle PC’s Jolanda Hill, whose scrumptious bites delighted every guest. A heartfelt thank you as well to Walter Hawkins for his heavenly velvet minis (Red & Green), baked fresh on the spot and always moist, always memorable.
Book Pinnacle PC for ALL of your catering needs— they NEVER disappoint. And if you’ve never experienced Historic Tuscaloosa’s Holiday Open House, there’s always next year!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all, and to all a good night from the Murphy African American Museum.
