Three days left before kickoff, we go to a 2017 matchup against LSU and a play by #2. Up only 14 – 3 in the third, quarterback Jalen Hurts fakes the handoff to Damien Harris then runs right up the middle for a touchdown. Alabama won the game 24- 10 on the way to winning a national championship.

Honorary Captain Jon Hand will be signing autographs at the Paul W. Bryant Museum from 3 pm until 4 pm on Friday, September 4.

Visitors will be able to get a free card signed. The card will be provided by the museum. Personal items are $20 each with an initial limit of two items. Additional items will be based on availability. Members of the museums Circle of Champions Director level receive one free personal item. Additional items will be based on availability. Due to time constraints players will not be able to pose for photos. Paid admission to the museum is required for admission to the signing. Tickets for the signing will be available beginning 30 minutes prior to the signing and will be passed out until supplies are exhausted.

Four days to kickoff! For this day, we go to centennial season where Coach Gene Stallings took an undefeated Crimson Tide to the Sugar Bowl against Miami. A close game at the halfway point, Alabama’s defense turned up the pressure on the ‘Canes offense while Derrick Lassic ran around, over, and through Miami’s defense. He finished the day with 28 carries for 135 yards and 2 touchdowns and MVP honors. The final one being a 4-yard run at 6:46 in the fourth quarter. The victory secured Alabama's first national championship since 1979 leaving no doubt who the best team was in 1992.

With six days to go, we head to the 33rd Sugar Bowl on January 2, 1967. In a dominant win against Nebraska, Alabama scored 27 points to start the game with quarterback Wayne Trimble’s six-yard run at 7:02 in the second quarter got the score 24-0. The game ended 34-7 with an undefeated season and the 23rd consecutive game without a holding penalty.

The number 12 as worn by Alabama quarterbacks is somewhat magical, and yet there have not been as many as one might have suspected. Last week Keelon Russell was announced as the starter for the Crimson Tide in the season opener next week when Bama hosts East Carolina.

Russell wears number 12 and will be the 11th to have been a starting quarterback wearing the number since Paul Bryant returned to Alabama in 1958.

Seven days until kickoff! For today, we go to the ’88 season’s Sun Bowl against Army. At 35 seconds left in the second quarter, quarterback David Smith hits Marco Battle for a 7-yard touchdown pass marking his first TD reception of the season. He finished the day with 9 catches for 99 yards and the touchdown. Alabama won 29 -28.

On eight days to go, we head to the 1979 Sugar Bowl. Tied at 7 in the third quarter, quarterback Jeff Rutledge pitches the ball to Major Ogilvie who runs around the left side for an 8-yard touchdown marking the game’s final score.
