The vibrant desert southwestern palette is the theme of this summer’s Museum Gallery show “ Colors of the Southwest” and this gorgeous painting from Tucson’s Dawn Sutherland fits right in. It’s also now monsoon season- which is the rejuvenation we need and love! We can feel the cooler air and hint of rain right in this painting. Here’s “Evening Promise” by Dawn.

We are open all summer. Hours in June are 10-4 Wednesday through Saturday. In July we add a Sunday afternoon. July hours 12-4 Wednesday through Sunday.

Come see this one soon before it finds a home! Dawn Sutherland

We had the absolute honor of being interviewed by Producer Ozlem Ayse Ozgur for an AZPM/Arizona Illustrated program featuring the Museum’s “True Grit: Southern Arizona Women of Determination” exhibition and this gorgeous new mural reflecting the history of women in Tucson created by Jessica Gonzales Pen Macias and Camila Ibarra | Arizona Muralist.

Getting to stand alongside these three talented muralists was such a pleasure. We talked about the power of public art, the role of women in art and the stories these women muralists wove into each brushstroke! This mural is so inspiring and if you haven’t seen it yet, it’s right by Jojos Restaurant in downtown Tucson.

We can’t wait to see the AZPM program when it drops this fall and we will be sure to share the link! AZPM Arizona Illustrated🌵
