Fall is a wonderful time to hike “the Valley” in Trumbull. Today it is hard to believe that factories once existed all along the Pequonnock River. This is Tait Paper Mill. Started by Andrew Tait in 1836, the mill manufactured marble paper. Later, it produced straw board for packaging. You can find all kinds of clues to the past in the Pequonnock River Valley. What have you seen? 👀🌳🫈🏚️

Who remembers “The Waltons” Tv show? Actor Will Greer, known for playing Grandpa Walton, visiting Trumbull school children in 1975. Mr. Greer was a resident of the Nichols area of Trumbull.

Who remembers… MacKenzie’s Pharmacy and Herb Hay’s Trumbull Food Store were both in Trumbull Center during the 1940’s. MacKenzie’s Pharmacy stayed until 2013.

Who remembers? 1969- Long Hill Food Market. A popular stop for local children to grab an ice cream or penny candy after school. Owned and operated by Nathaniel Caminiti. Before it was a store, it was both a chapel and auto garage! What are your memories of Long Hill?
