This week 246 years ago, vocal Patriot and minister of the Congregational Church in Stratford, Reverend Izrahiah Wetmore shares his excitement on the recently thwarted treasonous plan of Benedict Arnold in a letter to his friend, Colonel John Lamb, an artillery officer in the Continental Army stationed at West Point at the time. It is possible Wetmore had the inside scoop on the events since his adopted son, Jabez Huntington Tomlinson, was also stationed in the area and was a guard to the British Major John Andre prior to his ex*****on.
