Near the French River in North Grosvenordale Pond Lily sits silently with its remnants of an old Sea Scout shack on the shore. Nearby, a mysterious cemetery with unmarked crude stones keeps its secrets under the ever-growing trees. Bit by bit, nature is reclaiming this area, now mainly inhabited by beaver, coyotes, deer, osprey, bald eagles and the occasional bobcat.
Join us for a THS presentation by Joe Iamartino of what is known about this unusual area to be followed by an open floor discussion of the theories and legends surrounding it.
This area is private land today. THS seeks more clues to its precolonial and early colonial origins. Bring what information, clippings, and photographs you have to offer to help us more fully understand this quiet but interesting area of Thompson.
