A great day in Putnam yesterday.

Lots of museum visitors yesterday, during Putnam’s Fairy and Magic Festival. Some had come to Putnam specifically for the festival and some had come just to visit the museum and were surprised to find themselves in the middle of a festival.
Inside the museum, we were entertained by music and watched the dancers from the window.

Thank you to all who visited the museum during Putnam’s Fire & Ice event. The response was quite overwhelming! We never expected so many to walk through the door. If you did not get enough time to look around or ask questions due to the heavy crowd, please come back and visit at your leisure.
The museum will officially open for the 2026 season on the weekend of May 2 and 3.
Museum hours will be Saturdays and Sundays 11:00-4:00. Weekday visits are available by appointment.

Yes, the museum will be open for this rescheduled event. Stop by and see what is inside that genuine boxcar on S. Main Street right down the street from Gertrude Warner’s childhood home. There will be a craft for children.

The Gertrude Chandler Warner Boxcar Children Museum will be open during Fire and Ice. The museum is heated and will have a Valentines craft for children to do.
Fire and Ice hours: Noon to 4:00

The G.C.W. Boxcar Children Museum has closed for the season and will open again in May, 2026.
