Children will learn as they play on a full-sized sugarcane harvester, spot waterfowl from a duck blind, toss beads from a Mardi Gras float, climb aboard a shrimp boat and a 2-story oil platform, The Bayou Country Children's Museum is a hands-on Cajun themed children's museum for youth ages 2-12, their families and educators. ♻️ Litter Lab STEM Saturdays are coming to BCCM! 🌎🐊

Join us on September 12 & 19 for hands-on STEM activities that show kids how litter impacts animals, our waterways, and the community around us!

Throughout the museum, young scientists can:

🐦 Experiment with how animals can accidentally pick up microplastics and other litter while searching for food

🗑️ Decorate a Trash Grabber to take home and put their litter-fighting skills to work

🌊 Head outside to test our Litter Getter and discover how litter travels through ditches and waterways and how we can stop it

📚 Enjoy hourly story times focused on litter prevention

🎨 Turn recycled materials into something new at the Creation Station

STEM lessons and story times will take place every hour on the hour.

It’s all about learning through play and helping our littlest environmental stewards discover that they can make a BIG difference in keeping our bayous and communities beautiful!

Big news for our bayou! 🌊🐊

BCCM has been awarded a 2026-2027 Healthy Communities Grant from Keep Louisiana Beautiful, made possible through the State of Louisiana and the Office of Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser! ✨

This grant will help us launch a brand new anti-litter education initiative for young children and families right here in Lafourche Parish.

🧪 LITTER LAB STEM ACTIVITIES
September 12 + September 19 at BCCM!

Kids can explore how litter moves through our communities and into our local waterways, all while thinking like scientists and engineers to help solve it!

We are also introducing Coco's Big Beautiful Bayou, an anti-litter awareness campaign starring our very own Coco the Alligator. Because keeping Louisiana beautiful starts with the littlest hands! 💚

Exhibit Spotlight: Amazing Airways 🌬️✨
