Here's a little sneak peek from our grower of this year's Rotary Flower Barrels. They've got a couple more weeks before they arrive in Steamboat (June 8th), but we're excited about how they look so far.

This year's mix is salvia, petunias, lantana, sweet potato vine, and purple fountain grass. A big shoutout to fellow Rotarian and Executive Director of the Yampa River Botanic Park, Jennifer MacNeil, for putting together this year's barrel recipe!

We still have a limited amount of Rotary Barrels and Baskets available to purchase at www.RotaryFlowerBarrels.com

Metal Barrels $125 + tax
Terracotta Barrels $125 + tax
Hanging Baskets $65 + tax

All barrels and baskets will be delivered on June 8th to your business or home by Rotarians!

Ever wonder what happens to all those single poles that get dropped off the chairlifts during the ski season and nobody goes to fetch them? We work with Steamboat Resort to get those poles down to Crutches4Africa as part of our Mobility Drive, so they stay out of the landfill and go on to serve a greater, life-changing purpose for those in developing countries with mobility disabilities.

Cheers to Rotarian Jim Parish for hauling loads of mobility devices down to the Crutches4Africa warehouse in Denver.

What a day! Yesterday we had a slew of Rotarians all over Routt County supporting some amazing non-profits via United Way of the Yampa Valley's Day of Caring! We love seeing how this community shows up for each other!

Our crew was grateful to get to go and help: South Routt Library District - Yampa Public Library Branch, Hayden Heritage Center, Hahns Peak Historical Society, and Steamboat Montessori.

2026 ROTARY YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARD (RYLA) WINNERS

The Steamboat Springs Rotary Club (lunch) and the Steamboat Ski Town Rotary Club (breakfast) have announced that ten local students have been selected to receive the Rotary Youth Leadership Award for 2026.

These students will have all expenses paid to attend an intensive weeklong leadership development program at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park this summer. Participants will build skills in communication, problem solving, team dynamics, ethics, and community service while networking with Rotarians and peers.

Students selected include:
Grayson Davis, a 7th grader at SSMS
Morgan Garrett, an 11th grader at SSHS
Carleigh Klingemann, a 10th grader at SSHS
Jackson MacEntee, a 10th grader at SSHS
Ben Richman, a 10th grader at SSHS
Kai Rochon, an 11th grader at SSHS
Ramey Shepherd, a 7th grader at SSMS
Ben Steelman, a 10th grader at SSHS
Grayson Wells, a 10th grader at SSHS
Erick Yeiser, a 12th grader at SSHS

This program offered annualy to students finishing 7th grade for Young RYLA and students entering 10th-12th grade for RYLA. Applications are posted online on the Rotary Club sites each March. If you know a young person who would benefit from this program, save the date for 2027. It is open to all Routt County students.

In addition, Karen Wray, a member of the Steamboat Springs Rotary Club will be serving as a Senior Counselor at one of the RYLA camps.

Debbie Aragon and Todd Carr, presidents of the Steamboat Springs and Ski Town Rotary Clubs are excited that these ten students will not only learn about leadership, but will then be able to transfer the skills they will learn right back here into our local Steamboat community.

Join us on congratulating these students who took the initiative to apply and interview in order to improve their leadership skills.

So proud to honor Claire Shea as our Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs April Student of the Month!

Claire Shea, a senior at Steamboat Springs High School, has been recognized as the Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs April Student of the Month for her exceptional leadership, academic achievement, and commitment to serving her school and community.

Claire has distinguished herself as a dedicated student who approaches academics with curiosity, discipline, and a strong desire to learn. She has successfully balanced rigorous coursework alongside athletics, extracurricular activities, employment, and volunteer commitments, demonstrating remarkable time management and determination.

In addition to her academic success, Claire has been an active leader within Steamboat Springs High School. As a class officer, she helped organize major school events including prom and homecoming, fostering school spirit and inclusivity among her peers. Her leadership also extends to athletics, where she has served as a captain on her hockey teams and as a leader in both cross country and golf.

Scott Przymus, school counselor at Steamboat Springs High School, praised Claireโ€™s character and impact on those around her in his recommendation letter. He described her as someone who โ€œleads with confidence and humility, shows genuine care for others, and consistently works to make those around her better.โ€

Following graduation, Claire plans to pursue a degree in architecture and will begin her college studies with her first semester in Rome, Italy. Congratulations, Claire!

The Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs Student of the Month program recognizes local high school seniors who exemplify excellence in academics, leadership, service, and character.
