Tonight we celebrated the graduates of the 21st class of our Spartanburg Community Aviation Program (SCAP)! 🎓✈️

Over the course of 8 weeks, they’ve gained about 40 hours of experience in many aspects of aviation including mechanics, maintenance, airport design, engineering, and drones, plus time spent in the cockpit 🧑‍✈️

A partnership between Spartanburg Science Center and Spartanburg Downtown Airport makes this program is free for ages 16-20. If you or someone you know is interested in joining the fall class beginning Sunday, September 13, we have 5 spots remaining! Visit the link in our bio for the application.

Our littlest visitors had a morning FULL of science with a reading of Trout are Made of Trees, close up observation of Ram’s Head snails, and plenty of play! 🐌 🐟 🐍

STEM Storytime is for our 5 and under scientists, held on two Wednesday mornings per month, and on their sixth visit, they earn a free science book for their home library!📚

STEM Storytime is back! Join us this Wednesday, August 19th, for a morning full of STEM learning. STEM Storytime starts at 10 AM and is for kids 5 and under. The theme for this Storytime is ecology. We hope to see you there!

Once a month, we welcome student volunteers from VCOM - Carolinas to teach kids aged 5-10 all about the human body 💪

Join us for this FREE program this Saturday at 10am in the Contec, Inc. Children’s STEM Lab for hands-on learning all about the gastrointestinal tract!

Updates for the month of July! The Spartanburg Science Center will be closed to the public on Thursday July 9th. Registration for the fall session of our aviation is now open and spots are filling up fast. We have some major announcements coming soon, so stay tuned for those.

Little STEM Saturday is this Saturday. This workshop is for children ages 5-10 and it runs from 10-11 AM. The theme for this month is Our Lungs and Respiratory System. Little STEM Saturday is completely free, but space is limited so you must reserve your spot ahead of time. Call (864) 583-2777 to reserve your child’s spot today.

Registration for the fall session of our aviation program for students is now open! This program is completely free and is for students ages 16-20. The Spartanburg Science Center inspires excitement for science through interactive exhibits, live animals and programs that excite, engage, and educate. Our small, hands-on science center offers guests of all ages more than 23 exhibits.
