Scurry County's 150th Anniversary
On August 21, 2026, Scurry County celebrated its 150th Anniversary, marking its creation by the Texas Legislature, with a ceremony at the historic Scurry County Courthouse. As part of the ceremonies families were invited to share the stories of their families-past and present- through scrapbooks, photograph albums, news articles, letters, all on display throughout the ceremony. Guests came from across Texas and out of state to take part.
Scurry County Museum asked Jean Burns, celebration organizer and chair of Scurry County Historical Commission, if the stories could be brought to the museum for public display for a short period. Jean agreed--and now you're invited to visit and read these interesting and wonderful stories of Scurry County folks, past and present. At a later date, the displays will be moved to Heritage Village.
Museum Hours: Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. (closed on Saturday thru Monday)
