Today we’re honoring history and sacrifice! 🇺🇸

Did you know that in 1862, Dumont Hill was home to thousands of Union soldiers, including a young Colonel Benjamin Harrison?

While no battles were fought on this ridge, 57 soldiers lost their lives right here to severe camp diseases, sacrificing everything before ever reaching a battlefield.

Today, many of our trails cross paths with the history of these men! When we walk these peaceful trails, we can walk in gratitude for the service and the sacrifices of all veterans.

The park and trails are open today. Come walk through history!

Gold Star family list posted, these are the men and women who were killed in the line of duty. If we have missed someone that should be on the list please let us know.

There is a profound, solemn truth in remembering those who reached the end of their journey so that we could begin ours. They were sons and daughters, friends and neighbors, each with a life full of potential and a heart full of hope. They left behind empty chairs at dinner tables, letters that would never be finished, and families whose lives were forever altered by the heavy knock at the door.
Their sacrifice wasn’t just a moment in time; it was an investment in us, in people they would never meet, in a future they would never see.

May we keep their names in our hearts and their stories in our conversations. May we always extend our deepest gratitude to the men and women currently standing the watch, and to the families who carry the quiet, enduring pride of their lost loved ones.
