Hurricane Alicia — Who Remembers?
August 18, 1983

Hurricane Alicia is a storm many in our area will never forget. After strengthening on August 17, Alicia reached Category 3 status as it made landfall on the southwestern end of Galveston Island. The eye passed just west of Downtown Houston, bringing powerful winds, heavy rain, and widespread damage across the region.

The impact was so severe that the name Alicia was officially retired in 1984 by the World Meteorological Organization — never to be used again for an Atlantic hurricane.

A moment in our Santa Fe, Tx history that still echoes today.

Photos and clips from the SFAHF files.

Expanding, Growing, Improving — the AWESOME Santa Fe Band Room!
The Band Room in the annex (next to the gym) is looking better than ever, and we couldn’t be more proud of the progress.

A huge THANK YOU to James Fellers for his hard work and dedication. Your efforts make a real difference.

We are also grateful for the amazing volunteers who continue to show up, pitch in, and keep the museum moving forward. Your commitment keeps our history alive.

And to everyone who donates — thank you. Your support helps us improve and expand the exhibits that celebrate the School and Area Past. Every contribution strengthens our mission.
