💃🏽🩰🪩 Join us this Friday as we unveil “The Retrospective.” This exhibition celebrates fifteen years of Tannery World Dance & Cultural Center (TWDCC), tracing its evolution from its founding in 2011 as a cultural hub for modern, contemporary, and world dance to its role today as a vital home for movement, culture, and artistic expression.

Through photography, film, memorabilia, and archival footage, the exhibition tells the story of TWDCC’s
growth and its enduring impact on the local arts community. It documents the people, performances,
and cultural traditions that have shaped the organization, including the work of legendary photographers who have captured dance rooted in and inspired by the Black/African diaspora.

We are hosting “The Mug” at Radius Gallery this fall and we want your mugs! “The Mug” is curated with Janet Fine and will feature 200+ mugs from top potters to emerging makers. Pottery is a medium that transcends class, gender and age. We are looking for mugs, cups,
tumblers, teacups, and any vessel that meets the dimensions. All forms of fabrication (handbuilt,
wheel thrown, slip-cast, glass, wood, acrylic, etc.) will be accepted.

📏Maximum dimensions: 6”L x 6”W x 6”D.
📍Deadline September 3.

🥀 The first week of The Art of Flowers came to a close and we watched the fresh floral designs change…there’s something so beautiful about the transformation as the flowers dropped their pedals, the leaves dried and colors faded. 🥀

We are in LOVE with this exhibit in all of its forms! AND we are excited for the next round of floral designs transforming the gallery once again! The florists have been coming by and creating new designs…pop in and see what’s new! It’s the final week of the show! 💐✨

✨Join us during our regular gallery hours: Wed-Sun 12-5pm or for our closing reception with an artist and curator’s talk from 3-5pm on Sunday, August 16.✨

ART & CHANGE ◼️ - “You’re Getting Warmer: Rising Global Temperatures 1850-2022”

Part of our current exhibition, this quilt created by Lorraine Woodruff-Long illustrates the global change in temperature for every year and month between 1850 to 2022, reflecting the striking trend toward hotter temperatures in recent decades as a result of human-caused climate change. 🥵

Vertical lines represent temperature data for the 12 months of that year. Blue reflects cooler periods and red, warmer. Darker colors indicate more extreme temperatures in both directions. The color of each ½” x 3” piece represents the temperature change of that month & year relative to the 1961-1990 average (which equals zero.) The overall effect reflects a striking trend toward hotter temperatures in recent decades as a result of human-caused climate change. (Made from a yearly/monthly data set courtesy of Professor Ed Hawkins MBE, National Centre for Atmospheric Science, University of Reading, UK) 🌡️
