In partnership with the City of Santa Cruz, Arts Council has launched a RFQ for a new public art installation in downtown Santa Cruz, located in front of Jamba Juice across from the Clocktower.

The opportunity:
$50,000 award
Artwork will ideally remain installed for 10 years
Open to individual artists and artist teams
Applicants must have previous public art experience of a similar scope and scale
Artists must currently reside in Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Benito, Santa Clara, or San Mateo County
RFQ Deadline: August 26 at 11:59 p.m.

This summer at the Sesnon! Calling All UCSC Alumni Artists!
We would like to invite UCSC Arts graduates to share their work with campus and local community at an exhibition this summer at the Mary Porter Sesnon Art Gallery!
Given the limited gallery space, not all submissions will be accepted into the exhibition (potentially 2-3 artworks per artist, depending on size). 2-D and 3-D media only, including installations and video work.

Submission Deadline: 7/19/2026. The Sesnon Curator will select artworks and send out invitations by 7/24/2026.

Exhibition dates: 8/13/2026-9/19/2026

Exhibition opening celebration: 8/15/2026 – 3-5pm

Student Workshop
Thursday, March 12, 4:30-6:30pm
What We Remember
Writing and video workshop around individual, family, and collective memory

Each participant is invited to bring an object from their grandparents or ancestors (or an object that reminds the participant of them) to share our stories and question together the memory that is carried in these objects and the histories we want to pass on. In addition to the object, each participant should bring their cellphone to take photos and videos, and record sounds.

Light refreshments will be provided.
