The Haight Street Art Center promotes the advancement of poster and graphic art and artists. Drawing upon the influence of San Francisco’s countercultural histories, we provide experiences with art, music, exhibitions and public programs to create community, encourage personal exploration and inspire action toward positive cultural change. Haight Street Art Center is the San Francisco home for rock poster art, celebrating the art form’s rich history and deep roots. The Center’s ambitious mission serves both artists and the public, presenting a forum where artists can produce their work and the public can learn about, experience, and appreciate what this vibrant, democratic genre of public art has meant in the past, and continues to mean today. Located at the historic entrance to the Haight-Ashbury, the Center is home to an active artists’ studio and production facility coupled with fine art exhibition galleries. More than just a working museum, the Center not only immortalizes a great American art form but also fosters its preservation and continued relevance by providing traditional production facilities such as silkscreen, woodcut and lithography, as well as innovative, cutting- edge digital production capabilities.

Getting set up for tonight’s Midnight North concert...

And she’s behind the board. Legendary recording engineer Betty Cantor-Jackson is here to record the final Forever Grateful show live on her iconic Betty Board. 🎧

Her tapes of the Grateful Dead are among the most treasured recordings in the band’s history, and tonight you can hear her live mix through headphones as it happens. Headphones are first come, first served, so get there early!

This is the last stop of the Forever Grateful Concert Series. Don’t miss it.

💀⚡ 8 new Stealie-inspired posters drop just in time for our final concert! ⚡💀

Tomorrow night, Thursday 10/22, Midnight North closes out the Forever Grateful concert series while Betty Cantor-Jackson, the legendary recording engineer behind so many classic Dead tapes, captures the night live. Ticketed guests can pick up the new posters at the show, with designs by Dylan Fant Illustration, Jim Mazza of Mazza Art, Fez Moreno, the art of ryan kerrigan, Ben Kwok (BIOWORKZ.com), Robert Lee (METHANE STUDIOS), Helen Kennedy (ZazzCorp), and Jose A. Mercado (MUNK ONE). Posters are first-come, first-served.

Last Stop! Midnight North live at Forever Grateful this Thursday, 10/22!

Midnight North, the Bay Area band led by Grahame Lesh and Elliott Peck, comes to Forever Grateful in Golden Gate Park. Their harmonies are as natural as the songs, and their roots-music sound is built around the moment.

Grahame grew up in the Grateful Dead family. He’s a longtime member of his father Phil Lesh’s Terrapin Family Band and of Phil Lesh & Friends, and Elliott and drummer Nathan Graham played in both of Phil’s groups too. Expect songs from their latest album, Diamonds in the Zodiac, produced by Amy Helm of Levon Helm’s family and featuring Phil and Brian Lesh.

The Psychedelic Communication Network, a living archive of the Grateful Dead community, told in its own voices!

Lift a handset and the Operator answers. She can:

🗂️ Put you through to the Archivist, who knows the whole collection. Ask about a person, a place, a year, a song.

The booths are listening, too. Say “Jerry” or “dark star” and watch what happens. 🌹 There are 50 secret words to find.

Tomorrow, 10/18, Born to Soar the Sky: Celebrating Bobby Weir’s Birthday

Bobby Weir spent a lifetime making music that carried people somewhere beyond the ordinary, into places of freedom, friendship, and possibility. His birthday is a reason to celebrate, and this year, a group of musicians, friends, and collaborators will come together in his honor.

On October 16, Barry Sless, Jay Lane, Mookie Siegel, Pete Sears, Stephen Inglis, Sheldon Brown, Alex Kelly, Brian Switzer, Adam Theis, and Mads Tolling will be joined by Sunshine Garcia Becker, Jeff Pehrson, and special guests TBA for a night of music, memories, and celebration. The evening will take place inside Forever Grateful, surrounded by the art, instruments, stories, and history of the musical world Bobby helped create.
