I entered Authentic Cruises in the Kentucky Derby, oil 22 x 28" in the Washington Thoroughbred Breeders' and Owners' Association Equine Art Show held at Emerald Downs last month, and took a second place in the oil division.
We still have prints of this image, and the framed original.

Flightline Soars in the Longines Breeders' Cup Classic, 24 x 30" oil
I wasn't sure about leaving the tower and tote board on the right of the painting. When I first finished it, I thought it would distract from the horse and rider, but it doesn't. It helps make the composition better working with the rail to frame the action.

Tapit on Fire, 8" wooden disk
I finished this painting last week. It's a smaller version of a painting I did several years ago. I had the time and wanted to try it on wood.

This is an original oil painting of the great thoroughbred stud, Tapit. It is painted on a birch wood disk. The black and red background reflected into white coat of the horse makes it very dramatic.
