Celebrating Art For Over 100 Years! www.rockportartassn.org Hibbard, NA.

The Rockport Art Association & Museum is one of the oldest and most active art organizations in the country. The Associ-
ation has a long and distinguished history that has spanned a full century. Each year the RAA&M welcomes thousands
of visitors from all over the world. In 1921, a small group of artists attracted by the beauty and hospitality of Rockport, founded the Rockport Art
Association in the studio of the late Aldro T. The RAA&M was established as an artist cooperative
and social gathering place for artists and art lovers. On July 12, 1929 the Rockport Art Association & Museum found its
permanent home at The Old Tavern building, 12 Main Street. Built in 1787, the building was originally a sea
captain’s house and over the years it has also been an inn, a tavern and a stage coach stop. The Maddocks barn
gallery dates back to the mid-1800s and its history is reflected in the old wooden beams and sliding barn
door. The RAA&M continues to be one of Cape Ann’s most prominent cultural beacons. Since its founding, the Associa-
tion has steadily increased in size and currently includes approximately 300 artist & photography members
(selected through a jury process), and 400 contributing members. By promoting year-round programs of classes, lectures, demonstrations, exhibitions and community outreach,
as well as an impressive museum collection, the RAA&M remains dedicated to its mission of making fine art appre-
ciation accessible to all.

Learn the techniques of Layer & Glaze in Oils at our upcoming workshop with Todd Bonita on Saturday, November 14 from 9:30 am - 4:30 pm.

Sign up here: https://www.rockportartassn.org/adult-education/layer-glaze-in-oils-workshop-with-todd-bonita

This one-day intensive painting class will introduce you to the classical techniques of grissaille underpaintings and oil glazing. We will complete a single painting using an umber and white underpainting, then move on to glazing techniques with thin, transparent washes of color to achieve a luminous effect.

Throughout the workshop, we’ll take time to analyze the elements of drawing, design, and value sensitivity. Our goal is to simplify the painting process and create a work with mood, atmosphere, and poetic depth. This workshop is packed with time-tested information and techniques invaluable to beginners and advanced painters alike.

“Long Shadows,” by Bernard Corey (1914-2000), takes us on a ride to experience the bucolic New England countryside. Hints of autumn can be felt in the artist's sensitive eye for nature’s color.
Bernard Corey, known for his delicate landscapes, was devoted to open air painting.

Register by October 12 for Dimitry Papkov's online class, Editing for Landscape Photography! You don't want to miss this!

https://www.rockportartassn.org/adult-education/editing-for-landscape-photography-online-class-with-dimitry-papkov

Good editing isn't about pushing sliders, it is about translating what you saw and felt in the field into the finished photograph. In this four-session online class, we'll build a complete Lightroom Classic-based workflow for landscape photography, from organizing and developing your files to advanced masking, panoramas, exposure blending, and selected Photoshop techniques.

The final session will focus on editing participant images from start to finish. Sessions will be recorded and made available to participants together with the image files used in class.

The class will run on Mondays from 6:30 - 8:30pm on October 19, October 26, November 2, and November 9.

A sweeping autumn cloudscape, “The Wind Breathes,” by David P. Curtis (1950-2021), is a great example of the artist experience with nature expressed on canvas.
Many artists today developed their passion to paint the New England landscape thanks to David's passion to teach and share his love for outdoor painting.
