Meet Beverly Ress, whose carefully observed representational drawings explore the art of looking closely.

Ress has exhibited nationally and internationally, with solo exhibitions at the Katzen Museum in Washington, DC, the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics at Stony Brook University, and the Kentler International Drawing Space in Brooklyn. Her work was featured in New American Paintings in 2024, and her honors include five Individual Artist Awards from the Maryland State Arts Council, a Pollock-Krasner Grant, and a United States Artists project grant.

Applications to the 2027 Tephra ICA Arts Festival Now Open✨

Artists, artisans, and crafts people - apply now for the annual Tephra ICA Arts Festival on May 15–16, 2027.

This is a competitive, juried event in the heart of Reston Town Center that is consistently rated as one of the best outdoor art festivals in the country, both for the quality of the artwork presented and for its exceptional artist hospitality!

Deadline for applications is January 3.

Keep the party going at Afterparty, Tephra ICA’s late-night encore featuring artist and Tephra ICA board member Wanda Raimundi-Ortiz in her karaoke alter ego, Mistress Wanda.

Known for her immersive, irreverent, audience-driven performances, Mistress Wanda will take the stage herself before inviting guests to grab the mic, sing their favorites, and make requests of their own.

Expect karaoke, cocktails, and a little glorious unpredictability 🎶Bring your friends, pick your songs, don’t worry about hitting every note and join us for a night of unapologetic fun!

Working with colored pencil and pastel on Arches drawing paper and translucent vellum, Maryland-based artist Beverly Ress creates luminous, layered drawings that explore light, space, memory, and longing. Rooms, windows, and organic forms emerge and dissolve like fragments of a half-remembered dream.

At the center of Ress’ work is the recurring image of the window—a portal between internal and external worlds, and a quiet symbol of longing.
