Join us for Meet the Artists at Lake Erie Art Collective on Wednesday 10/21/26 4-7 pm! It’s a chance to meet the people behind the work, ask how they come up with their ideas, and discover what goes into making the pieces you see in the gallery.

Because sometimes the story behind a piece is just as interesting as the artwork itself. And let’s face it, artists tend to see the world a little differently. That’s what makes them so much fun to talk to.

Okay, Lake Erie people. We might start a little friendly rivalry here. 😂

Vermilion, Marblehead, and Port Clinton: all three lighthouses recreated as miniature 3D replica ornaments, complete with their distinctive architectural details.

Every lighthouse has its loyal fans, and we’re curious where everyone’s allegiance lies.

Which one are you claiming, and why?

As a little girl, Kelly loved collecting treasures along the shores of Lake Erie. Shells, pebbles, and even bricks that had been worn smooth by the waves. She still has some of those bricks tucked into her flower gardens today. 💙

Meet Kelly, the artist behind The Joy Collective Co.

Her love for the beach started young and has found its way into so much of what she creates. Kelly uses real Lake Erie beach sand in her handcrafted resin jewelry, making beautiful little keepsakes with an actual piece of the shoreline inside. she also creates custom pieces with sand from your favorite beach!

She’s also a talented watercolor artist, capturing the colors and peacefulness of the coast in her paintings, greeting cards, ornaments, and other incredible art pieces.

Kelly has a special love for sea turtles, too. They often appear in her artwork as a reminder to keep going and keep reaching for the light. She hopes her art brings others a sense of joy, hope, and peace.

And here’s something you might not expect. Kelly absolutely loves the beach, but she’s terrified of the water! She’s even dive certified, yet perfectly happy spending a week at the beach without getting more than her feet wet. 😊

If you’ve had the pleasure of meeting Kelly, you know what a genuinely kind and wonderful person she is. She has a way of making people smile and brings so much joy to everyone around her.

This is what we love most about Kelly. The joy isn’t just in what she creates. It’s in who she is. 💙

Who knew beeswax could become a painting?

That’s one of the fascinating things about encaustic art.

Artists work with melted beeswax, often combined with resin and pigments, building up layers and using heat to fuse them together. As the wax cools, it hardens, creating a surface that can be smooth in one area and beautifully textured in another. Some encaustic paintings can even be gently polished to bring out a soft sheen.

Now take a look at “Relax”, encaustic landscape by Grace Art Studio

What appears to be a peaceful landscape has another dimension when you get closer. You can see the texture in the sky and across the water, where the wax gives the painting a depth that a photograph can’t quite capture.

And here’s what makes this particular piece even more interesting. The artist actually encourages people to touch it!

With clean, dry hands and a gentle touch, you can experience the texture of the wax instead of just imagining what it feels like.

If you’ve been to Lake Erie Art Collective, you know how unusual that invitation is. We’re generally pretty protective of the artwork. 😂

I love the idea that a painting can invite us to experience art in a way we wouldn’t normally expect.

Adult Trick-or-Treat is back at Gideon Owen W**e Company on October 24, and we’ll be there all day! 🎃🍷

Starting at 12 PM, everyone is welcome to come explore the Glasshouses for FREE. Walk through the square, see how each Glasshouse has been decorated for this year’s CLUE theme, shop along the way, grab something to eat or drink and enjoy the afternoon at Gideon Owen.

Then at 6 PM, Adult Trick-or-Treat begins, and that’s when the full CLUE experience gets underway. Ticket holders will make their way through the Glasshouses for four w**e tastings paired with sweet treats, take in all of the different CLUE-inspired houses and cast their vote for the best decorated Glasshouse.

Last year we somehow walked away with Best Decorated Glasshouse for our lighthouse, so there is absolutely no pressure whatsoever this year. 😂

We do have a plan for ours, but I’m not giving that away yet. You’ll have to come see it. 👀

There’s plenty going on into the evening too, with a costume contest, Halloween specialty cocktails, DJ Rock & Roll Express and an optional “Boo-ffet” dinner from 5–8 PM.

So come out early, walk through the Glasshouses, shop, eat, drink and hang out for the afternoon, then grab your friends, get dressed up and stay for Adult Trick-or-Treat.

Well, I said I was wearing pirate gear, and clearly I meant it. 😂🏴‍☠️

We had such a fun night at the Pirate’s Ball & Feast supporting Port Clinton Pirate Fest. There were pirates everywhere, people dancing, laughing, eating, drinking and just enjoying themselves, and it was really nice to see so many people from the community and beyond come out and be part of it.

A huge thank you to Kelly Rigoni, aka Admiral Rigs, and everyone who worked so hard to put the night together. Kelly has put so much time and energy into Pirate Fest, and after seeing more than 11,000 people come out for the first one this summer, it was great to see that support continue last night.

I think events like this are such an important part of what makes Port Clinton fun. They bring together people who live here, local businesses, visitors, friends and probably a few people who never expected to spend their Saturday night dressed as pirates. 😂 And at the end of the day, everyone is just out having fun and supporting something that brings people together in our little corner of Lake Erie.

So thank you to Kelly, the volunteers, sponsors, businesses and everyone else who helped make the night happen. We had a blast. 💙🌊

And if you missed Pirate Fest this year, you have another chance because it’s coming back July 23–25, 2027. 🏴‍☠️

I obviously already have something to wear. 😂
