Artist Statement
My name is Jessie Fries and I am a freelance artist ~ painter : free spirited may be more accurate. Within my work I am often drawn to nature and simple, rural, everyday surroundings. My subject matter is often flowers, birds, sunsets, star-filled evening skies or the sea. I am attracted to these things because it expresses the wonder I feel in my very existence. In my paintings I blend bold colorful acrylics and mixed media to create texture and form as well as using warm earthy hues to create an inviting palate. Every piece I create reflects a part of my soul and each piece allows me to improve technique and style. Knowing I have created something beautiful by the end of each new day is fulfilling. My hope is that my art will connect with an audience either spiritually, or emotionally, and also share a celebration of all things beautiful. My ambition as an artist is to acknowledge the visual world, while continuing to learn and understand my own inner world. As a self-taught artist, the learning process was simple~ trial and error. I appreciate many styles of art, as long as there has been honest artistic effort put forth. That is, and always has been my conviction, to put forth my best effort. It is my philosophy that art provides us with an aesthetic appreciation of our world. I feel art should smile upon everything. So in this sense, art becomes a luxury in life. Shouldn’t every life include a little bit of luxury?

Often when you do a craft fair or festival you are asked to donate a piece of yours to the silent auction/raffle table, and the funds made from this often go back to the promoters or a scholarship or cause of their choosing. I love supporting local arts and music so...no problemo!

This Saturday Oct. 3rd Rain or shine, from 10 to 4 we will be at the Lakeville Arts & Music Festival located at the junction of Rte 18 & 139 (Precinct St.)

Today I took some studio time to make my donation. I painted a watercolor/ mixed media piece representing Autumn! Color me pumpkin spice baby...I just love anything Autumn ! 🍂

'the KRYPTID KINGDOM'- 24"X36" acrylic painting painted by Jessie Fries♡

Indulge me in taking a moment to realize a world in which Bigfoot, Nessy, Puckwedgies, Windego, Vampire bats ,Owl man, Swamp thing/man, shapeshifters, Jackalopes, Mothman, Aliens and Unicorns, flying Dragons forest phantoms and the Kraken can all live in a peaceable kingdom. Peace and love my friends...a world in which I dream of....♡

This heavily detailed large painting is not for sale. But I will be reaching out to my friends at We Print Today and get this 'muthah' printed extra large. Oh hell yes. I started this a few weeks ago and I gave myself the time to have fun and enjoy making this crazy world.

Signed matted 16x20 matted prints will be available soon. I hope you get yours. Will post when available. Understand that this is multi watermarked- which will not be the case with prints.

Peace out ♡♡

'Blue Bayou'

15"x21" assorted pastels (Mount Vision, Jack Richeson and Rembrandt) on sanded Art Spectrum paper.

Rainy studio day...which I
love...and putting title on this painting 'Blue Bayou' reminds me of a favorite song with same title by Linda Ronstadt which I also love.

Ahhh so good to be back at the Art Shoppe doing my thing. Slow and steady, but onward!
