Plimoth Patuxet Museums is open for the 2026 Season now through the Sunday following Thanksgiving Day. Plimoth Patuxet Museums offer powerful personal encounters with history built on thorough research about the Wampanoag People and the Colonial English community in the 1600s. 7th Century English Village and the Historic Patuxet Wampanoag Homesite), at Mayflower II, and at the Plimoth Grist Mill on Town Brook. Our permanent exhibits tell the complex and interwoven stories of two distinct cultures - English and Native. The main exhibits are enhanced with an exciting menu of special events, public programs and workshops that offer a rich and diverse exploration of the 17th-century. Generations of families, millions of school children and countless people from all over the world have visited here and participated in Plimoth Patuxet’s educational experiences that spark the imagination, delight the senses, touch the heart and enrich the mind.

Last week, Tim Turner, the Museum’s Director of Indigenous Education and Training, and members of the Historic Patuxet Homesite team, performed ongoing care and maintenance of the Historic Patuxet Homsite’s nuhshwetu, or three fire house. While the wooden frame of a wetu can last up to 10 years, the bark requires regular maintenance to keep out cold, wind, and rain. As the team worked, guests had the opportunity to see firsthand an Indigenous lifeway skill that has been passed on through generations.

⚓ Captain's Log: Homeward Bound

After an unforgettable week retracing the historic waterways of southern Massachusetts, the Fuller Shallop begins her voyage home today.

From Plymouth to Westport, Dartmouth, Cuttyhunk, and Nantucket, we've been honored to share this remarkable vessel and the stories she carries with communities all along the coast. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, welcomed our crew, and followed the journey from shore and online.

Today, the shallop turns her bow toward Plymouth, with plans to arrive home on Sunday, August 23.

Every voyage reminds us that Massachusetts's history wasn't written only on land. It was carried on the tides, across rivers, bays, and the open Atlantic, where every harbor and horizon witnessed moments of courage, encounter, hardship, hope, and discovery. These waters carried knowledge, commerce, families, and cultures for thousands of years, reminding us that the story of Massachusetts has always been one of connection.

Thank you to all of our incredible partners who helped make this journey possible. Until the next adventure...fair winds and following seas. ⚓❤️
