On May 29, supporters of Plimoth Patuxet gathered for the special program “From Plymouth Rock to the Battle of Bunker Hill: An Evening with Nathaniel Philbrick”. As part of our Revolutionary Ideas Started Here series and in anticipation of America’s 250th anniversary, the evening brought guests together to explore the people, events, and ideas that carved a path to the American Revolution and the founding of the United States.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in examining these powerful themes - your participation and support help advance Plimoth Patuxet’s educational mission to tell the complex and enduring stories of the Indigenous and English communities that shaped early America.

We extend our sincere gratitude to bestselling historian and author Nathaniel Philbrick for sharing his insights and helping connect Plymouth’s early history to the revolutionary moment that transformed a collection of colonies into a new nation.

We’ve heard the question a lot lately: “Will Mayflower II be here for July 4th?”

The answer is YES! ⚓

Although Mayflower II will take part in the historic Sail Boston celebrations this summer, she’ll be in Plymouth Harbor for Independence Day festivities in America’s Hometown.

There’s nothing quite like seeing Mayflower II dressed against the backdrop of a Plymouth summer — and we’re excited to celebrate with our local community once again.

Join us tomorrow, June 20, 10 am – 5 pm, at the Historic Patuxet Homesite, to experience Strawberry Thanksgiving.

For Indigenous communities throughout the Northeast, the ripening of strawberries has long marked the approach of the summer solstice and a season of gathering with family and community. For thousands of years, Indigenous Peoples have observed ceremonial cycles connected to the natural world, including the spring and fall equinoxes and the summer and winter solstices. Strawberry Thanksgiving remains part of these longstanding traditions, offering a time to gather in community, give thanks, and honor the resilience, continuity, and living identity of Native people.

Activities will include archery, corn husk doll making, and the burning of a mush8n (weather dependent). Together, these experiences invite guests to reflect on the continued importance of Strawberry Thanksgiving and the ways Wampanoag traditions have carried forward today.

The Museum was proud to host “From Plymouth Rock to the Battle of Bunker Hill: An Evening with Nathaniel Philbrick” at the end of May. An evening of history, conversation, and community support brought guests together at Plimoth Patuxet to explore the ideas, people, and events that carved a path to the American Revolution.

Presented in commemoration of America 250, the program examined the stories that forged a nation while supporting the Museum’s educational mission to preserve, steward, and share them with future generations.
