The Metlar/Bodine House Museum The Metlar-Bodine House, circa 1728, is listed on both the State and National Registers of Historic Sites.

Since 1979 it has served as Piscataway Township’s Historical and Cultural Museum. Video Tour: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXDmMqqE7ek The Fellowship for Metlar House is a 501(c)(3) foundation. Its Board of Trustees works closely with Piscataway Township to support it historical and cultural museum primarily through a vigorous fundraising program. This program includes proceeds from events, the

Dutch Door Gift Shop, programs, workshops, tour fees, matching grant initiatives, membership drives and major fundraising campaigns – board members chairing committees for each. The Board chair and vice chair hire and fire staff, the Executive Director’s approval linked to Piscataway Township’s Mayor and Council endorsement. The Board of Trustees has final approval on staff’s long range planning and program ideas, collection acquisitions and deaccessioning suggestions, historic property management, restoration and collection conservation projects, consultant hires, exhibit development and costs, facility issues (such as interior repairs) and office management needs. All restoration and rehabilitation plans are discussed with the township by the board, and the township seeks board advice about building and site needs which they fund.

Mayor Brian C. Wahler thanked the wonderful volunteers at the Metlar-Bodine House Museum at the first of its two holiday open houses today.

Enjoy another visit to the Metlar-Bodine House Museum on Sunday, December 14th from Noon-4 p.m. with a guided tour or a self-guided architectural tour. CALL FOR ARTIFACTS: Middlesex County’s Cornelius Low House Museum Now Accepting Artifacts for Upcoming Exhibition

Artifacts will be accepted now through December 2025

WHAT: Middlesex County's Cornelius Low House Museum is currently seeking artifacts for its upcoming exhibition, Caught in the Crossfire: Divided Loyalties in Middlesex County. Inspired by the forthcoming 250th anniversary of America's Independence, the new exhibition will explore threads of local heritage in our country's founding through the lens of ordinary and extraordinary individuals in Middlesex County.

The museum will be collecting artifacts relating to the Revolutionary War (1776-1783), the Centennial (1876), and the Bicentennial (1976) in Middlesex County, including:



· Historic documents

· Militaria and weaponry

· Maps and documents

· Household objects

· Centennial and bicentennial memorabilia

All artifacts loaned or donated to this exhibition will be insured by Middlesex County, photographed, and documented upon receipt and return. The museum is climate-controlled and has appropriate security and fire prevention.

WHEN: Artifacts will be accepted now through December 2025. The exhibit will be on display from April 11, 2026, to December 31, 2028.

WHO: The Cornelius Low House is home to the Middlesex County Museum, which mounts changing exhibits about New Jersey history. The museum is free and open year-round to the public, Wednesday through Friday from 10 am to 4 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 4 pm.

In honor of 2026, the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, the upcoming Caught in the Crossfire: Divided Loyalties in Middlesex County exhibition will be part of Middlesex County’s multi-year celebration of this historic milestone as a community.
