Manna Gallery is pleased to present Are you with me NOW?, a solo exhibition by Jeanne Lorenz, featuring new abstract paintings that emerge from an expansive daily drawing practice. Guided by the belief that art can metabolize the emotional and ecological turbulence of our time, Lorenz transforms accumulated gestures into luminous vertical paintings that balance vulnerability with resilience. She embraces painting as an act of participation rather than escape, one that holds grief, humor, light, and hope in dynamic tension. Lorenz invites viewers into a contemplative space where attention itself becomes a form of repair, and where abstraction offers a language for imagining what might grow from uncertainty.

Join acclaimed Oakland-based artist, educator, author, and curator Lisa Solomon lisa solomon for a special event celebrating Everything Must Go Juried Group Show. Saturday, August 8, 3–5 PM

Known for her mixed-media works and large-scale installations that explore themes of identity, craft, domesticity, and personal history, Solomon has exhibited nationally and internationally and is the author of several books on art and creativity, including the new Art/Craft/Color. She will share insights into her selection process, discuss the exhibition’s themes, and highlight works that resonated with her vision as juror. Following the talk, she will present two exhibition awards that extend opportunities beyond the exhibition itself. The Juror Award includes a featured hallway exhibition at Manna Gallery during the 2026–27 exhibition season, while the Manna Gallery Award includes inclusion in the gallery’s annual year-end group exhibition. As Manna Gallery’s first juried exhibition, Everything Must Go reflects our commitment to building new relationships with artists throughout the Bay Area and creating meaningful opportunities for future exhibition, visibility, and community engagement within our gallery program.

Lisa Solomon has been teaching at Bay Area Colleges and classes around the world for 20+ years. As a Hapa, she continually explores ideas, spaces, and materials that fall in between. A self-declared color geek, she is profoundly interested in bridging the gaps between being creative, living creatively, creating community, and making a living as a creative.

ART, CRAFT, COLOR offers twenty creative projects that celebrate the many ways color impacts creative practice and everyday life.

Sometimes I act disingenuously to how I truly feel-- a sort of customer service facade that I maintain even in my personal relationships. Over time this causes burnout and
resentment. This piece represents the overstimulated feeling I reach as an introvert
pretending to be extroverted.

"Slant" stands as a poignant embodiment of the unknowable, a tangible remnant of
a forgotten civilization. Its undulating surfaces, etched with the passage of countless eons, whisper tales of a past shrouded in mystery.
