Introducing Emily Davis, Gallery Associate:

Hello everyone, I wanted to introduce myself since you will probably hear from me on the Savage Godfrey Gallery Instagram or in your emails if you haven’t already. I’ve lived in Norwell all my life, and I am an incoming sophomore at the University of Rhode Island. I started at Savage Godfrey Gallery as an intern last summer, and since then, I’ve been working with Christina and Sunne in the Gallery! Some of my responsibilities include creating social media posts, designing our flyers and invites, and distributing our press releases. Art is something I’ve always been passionate about, and I love being a part of sharing it with the community. I will be in the Gallery on Fridays this summer, 10 am to 4 pm. Feel free to stop by to see the current exhibition and ask any questions you may have!

We are kicking off our Holding Ground Artist Spotlight series with Ilana Manolson! A selection of her vibrant botanical paintings is now on display in the Gallery…🪻🌿🌸

When Ilana Manolson paints, she brings a rare dual perspective as both an artist and botanist. This blend gives her work a mix of visual poetry and scientific precision, revealing the subtle complexity of nature. Rooted in the wetlands around her home in Concord, MA, her paintings focus on native plants, capturing moments of growth and change within their broader ecosystems.

We're excited to share that the Savage Godfrey Gallery is featured in Pink Chair Storytellers Magazine Power Issue!

In a wide-ranging interview, founder Sunne Savage shares how she got her start in the art world in 1970s Boston and director Christina Godfrey discusses why she chose to follow in her mother's footsteps.

When asked why art matters, Christina says:

"In a world where so much is mass-produced and fast-moving, original art offers something deeply human. It carries intention, effort, and story. Supporting artists means supporting thoughtful creation... bringing that into our homes and shared spaces makes those environments richer, more personal, and more meaningful."

The Power Issue also features a profile of artist Nancy Cloonan, whose work is currently on view in our exhibition Holding Ground.

Previous exhibiting artists Dina Brennan and Jess Hurley Scott are also featured, along with Marcia Ballou whose work was featured in the exhibition Frolic and Fable at Boston Children's Hospital curated by Christina Godfrey.
