🌱This year's cohort of garden apprentices have been hard at work stewarding our land and growing fresh produce to be sold at a low-cost to our local community!

☀️Support our work this summer by donating to our Root to Rise farm fundraising campaign! With your help, we can continue to engage with the next generation of farmers as they become leaders in urban agriculture and develop community building skills.

🌼For a limited time, donations up to $5,000 will be matched by a generous donor. Help us meet this goal by contributing now at the link in our bio.

Our Build-a-Berm day last month was a huge success! Participants helped us construct a berm around the perimeter of the farm to become a beautiful pollinator patch and serve as a barrier for flooding! Thank you to all our volunteers, including those from Riders Alliance and to Samuel S. T. Pressman and Marion Yuen for braving the rain with us! 🌧️🪵🍂

If you missed Berm Day, never fear! We will be back on August 29th to continue construction. Sign up at the link in our bio 🌱

🌼WHAT IS THE HISTORY OF PINKSTER?🌼
Pinkster is a Dutch holiday marking the day of Pentecost in the Catholic church. For enslaved people's, it was a day of rest and a day to practice their individual cultures and traditions. In the late 18th century, Pinkster became known as an African celebration mostly in Dutch settled areas throughout the Hudson River Valley where they settled during the 1620s. Pinkster is now known to be a celebration of the diverse traditional African cultural arts in the Americas and a commemoration of the resistance and resilience of African people.
